Responsibilities & Context:

ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country's primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people's ownership. Consequently, the ESDO's working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women's empowerment, health, the promotion of children's rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government's development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government's development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 422 upazilas under 56 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15.73 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.

“ESDO is recruiting for the Transforming Aspirations, Resilience and Upskilling through Networks for Nurturing Youth Action: Building Youth Agency, Voice & Influence (TARUNNYA) project, supported by the Nagorikata: Civic Engagement Fund (CEF), whose development partners are the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and the European Union (EU). This position is conditional and depends on (1) approval of the project by the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB), Government of Bangladesh, and (2) final contracting between ESDO and GFA Consulting Group, the Fund Management Agency of Nagorikata CEF. Appointment will be made only after both conditions are met.”

ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the following position.

Project duration: 30 months: 1 November 2026 (M1) to 30 April 2029 (M30).

Working place: TARUNNYA project office, Dhaka (Adabor/Mohammadpur area), with regular travel to partner areas across all eight divisions, including the Chittagong Hill Tracts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage the project budget and forecasts, and report any differences to the Team Leader.

  • Run the sub-grants to the ten partners: issue and amend sub-agreements, release instalments, and check each partner’s records and liquidations.

  • Visit partners to check their finances, and follow up findings until they are closed.

  • Keep the project’s financial records: separation of duties, bank and ledger reconciliation, asset register and audit filing.

  • Bring partner and ESDO spending together into the financial reports sent to the FMA.

  • Apply ESDO financial policy, the grant conditions, Bangladesh requirements and FMA instructions, and support the external audit.

  • Not part of this post: ESDO internal audit, setting ESDO financial policy, and ESDO-wide treasury or statutory compliance.
