  • Proven experience in financial administration and audit.
  • Experience in managing administration/office management.
  • Budget management experience and financial literacy.
  • Hands on experience in working with donor funded projects and conversant with budget, expanses and reporting guidelines.
  • Experience in budget planning skills for multiple donors.
  • Sound analytical and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, working with different groups and nationalities.
  • IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and use any software adopted by Muslim Aid.
  • Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • Ability to work in and with a diverse team.
  • Ability to multi-task and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines, identify priority activities and assignments, adjust priorities as required.
  • Willingness to travel at very short notice.


Responsibilities & Context:

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant ensures that all the payments have occurred after following the MABCO & MA-UK policies & procedures, keeping financial records according to the financial manual & guidelines in a timely manner. The job holder will be responsible for collecting all the require supporting documents for each transaction and preserve as well for future reference.

Key Accountabilities:   

  • Implement and maintain effective accounting systems for the recording of all financial information.

  • Make payments after verification of the accuracy, validity, and legitimacy of all documentation ensuring, completeness of financial documents, (purchase requests, work orders, pro forma invoices), proper coding, and approval by responsible managers before payments are made.

  • Review and ensure the correctness of monthly accounts and cash & bank reconciliations for timely submission into the accounting system.

  • Ensure that supporting documentation and finance procedures are compliant with Muslim Aid and donor requirements

  • Ensure that all the deducted VAT/tax are at sources as per the government. rules and deposited to the govt. treasury regularly.

  • Communication with the Bank to collect information on Balance, fund deposits, fund transfers, and bank statements.

  • Prepare Bank documents for Bank Account Opening & closing, Signatory change

  • Communicate & assist the Project Office Accounts persons if required  Ensure that the petty cash is managed and documented properly
