Responsibilities & Context:

A. ABOUT PRERONA

PRERONA is a women-led feminist non-governmental organization based in the Satkhira district of Bangladesh, founded in 2006 by a group of like-minded social workers. Since its inception, PRERONA has been dedicated to empowering vulnerable women in the coastal regions. These women often face persecution, exploitation, and are subjected to gender-based violence due to societal impact, social stigma, and natural calamities, all of which exacerbate gender disparity.

PRERONA aims to enhance the quality of life for children, women, and the broader community by elevating the socio-economic conditions of marginalized and vulnerable populations. The organization envisions a society where women and men equally participate in and benefit from decision-making processes. Prerona’s mission is to uplift and advocate for the rights of marginalized women who are frequently deprived of access, excluded from decision-making processes, and subjected to various forms of social neglect. PRERONA promotes diversity and inclusion and creates an open and inclusive culture where everyone feels valued.

PRERONA's projects serve a diverse population in the Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, and Naogaon Districts with include women, men, transgender, persons with disabilities (PwD), adolescents, youth and ethnic communities.

B. About Project:

PRERONA made a promising implementing partnership with WHH in the Coastal District Satkhira. This collaboration aims to address the economic challenges, food security issues, and livelihood concerns faced by both rural and urban populations in this coastal region. PRERONA will start the implementation of the three-year-long project titled “Community-based programme for climate-resilient and sustainable livelihoods in coastal areas of the Satkhira district, Bangladesh” in November 2024. The project will benefit a total of 5,000 households with a total of 25,000 people (55% women). In the urban target areas, the project will focus mainly on marginalized climate migrants living in slums (internally displaced persons), while in rural areas, the focus will be on the marginalized population, which is disproportionately affected by climate change. The project is financially supported by Welt Hunger Hilfe-Germany and BMZ (German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development).

C. Purpose:

Extension worker/Field Officer will be responsible facilitate self help group, sensitize on menstrual hygiene and product promotion. Able to exposure strong facilitation skill and organize the workshop, training event and facilitate to robust sanitary napkin supply chain. He/she will need to be able to work on tight deadlines, be competent in using Microsoft MS word, Excel, power point presentation and have exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.

D. Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate self-help groups, women groups for business promotion and sensitization on menstrual hygiene products.
  • Identify the potential women entrepreneurship among the vulnerable communities.
  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, awareness sessions, and capacity-building training as per project need.
  • Engage with local leaders, community groups, and stakeholders to promote women business and sustainability.
  • Liaison with the project stakeholders and maintain effective communication.
  • Facilitate women entrepreneurs to link with the MFI and financial institute for access to finance.
  • Support the implementation of livelihood initiatives as per project requirements.
  • Support for assessments and surveys to measure the effectiveness of the project interventions.
  • Facilitate partnerships with local service providers and institutions to strengthen the project’s impact.
  • Collect data from field visits to document interventions, case studies and best practices.
  • Participate in meeting, learning sessions, training, workshop, seminar etc. as per need.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to local women’s groups to build capacity and promote financial independence.
  • Ensure gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) issues to implement project activities.
  • Monthly plan and report preparation as per project requirements.
