Job Context:
∎ Project Brief: Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), BRAC University (BRACU) is recruiting "Field Officer"(s) for the ready-made garment (RMG) related project titled "Mapped in Bangladesh (MiB) Phase 2" (Project Duration: June 2022- June 2025), and funded by Laudes Foundation and GIZ. The 3-year project aims to build an interactive digital map for the Bangladeshi RMG sector by offering credible and comprehensive industry-relevant data through a publicly accessible RMG database for strengthening prevailing working conditions in the Bangladeshi RMG sector.

∎ Position Summary: The Field Officer(s) will be responsible for working in close collaboration with Field Survey Supervisor(s) of the project as well as for providing necessary support to the project team.
∎ Job Location: All over Bangladesh with extensive field visits.
∎ Eligibility: Final selection and job confirmation will be made after successful completion of training.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Identify factory location with name and address by walking on foot in survey areas for verifying and ensuring that all address lists are correct.
∎ Determine longitudes and latitudes of factory locations within survey areas using mobile devices (Tab and GIS).
∎ Correspondence through phone/email with factory management to obtain pertinent data from appropriate personnel.
∎ Clearly explain the objectives of survey and their procedures to people who are to be interviewed.
∎ Collect factory information from designated personnel of a factory and assist in filling out survey forms and explaining data points to factory management.
∎ Double check information on survey forms and/or Tab to ensure the accuracy of information.
∎ Identify and report any issues that may arise while attempting to obtain valid data.
∎ Compile, record and code information derived from specified forms into a predefined online database.
∎ Ensure that Supervisor(s) are kept well-informed of completed/incomplete assignments and progress.
∎ Ensure that repeat visits are performed in case a respondent is not present in the first instance or because of any other reasons.
∎ Compile reports of information derived from census activities and ensure that they are vetted by the Supervisor(s) and Data Validation and Verification Officer(s).
∎ Create survey sheets or work according to survey plan to gather census information maintaining deadline.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 to 4 years' experience in field-based research, especially surveys, is required.
∎ Familiarity of using computer, Tab, GIS device, etc.
∎ Ability to work under pressure for 40-50 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
∎ Physical ability to conduct data collection by walking in survey areas.
∎ Experience of GIS-based data collection using online tools.
∎ Knowledge on Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry in Bangladesh is preferable.
