Summary:
The Food & Beverage Order Taker is responsible for accurately taking guest food and beverage orders (by phone, in person, or via digital systems), ensuring all requests are clearly communicated to kitchen and service teams. The role requires a high standard of product knowledge, attention to detail, and guest service, ensuring a smooth order process and excellent dining experience consistent with 5-star hotel standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF F&B ORDER TAKER
• Greet guests warmly and professionally over the phone or in person.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders using the hotel’s POS or order-taking system.
• Repeat and confirm orders to ensure accuracy and guest satisfaction.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations on menu items, wine pairing, and specials.
• Handle all guest inquiries courteously and efficiently, providing correct information.
• Communicate special requests, allergies, and dietary preferences clearly to the kitchen and service teams.
• Maintain active communication with kitchen and service staff to ensure timely order delivery.
• Follow up on guest orders to ensure prompt service and satisfaction.
• Handle complaints or service recovery situations professionally and escalate when necessary.
• Record all guest orders accurately in the POS system.
• Ensure all guest checks are processed, posted, and closed correctly.
• Maintain accurate records of room service or outlet orders and revenues.
• Coordinate with the cashier for payment processing and billing accuracy.
• Assist with preparation of mise-en-place for menus, order pads, and guest materials.
• Monitor and update menu changes or unavailable items in coordination with kitchen and management.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the order-taking area, phone station, and related equipment.
• Maximize revenue by up-selling and suggesting additional menu items, beverages, and promotions.
• Maintain a deep understanding of all menus, beverage lists, and promotional offers.
• Offer alternatives and recommendations that enhance the guest experience.
• Maintain effective communication with colleagues in kitchen, service, and housekeeping departments.
• Support and assist F&B team members during busy operations or special events.
• Attend and actively participate in daily briefings and training sessions.
• Adhere to all hotel hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards.
• Ensure food handling and service comply with HACCP and hotel safety policies.
• Maintain professional personal appearance, uniform, and grooming as per hotel standards.
• Report any equipment malfunction, hazards, or incidents immediately to management.
