Additional Requirements:
- Adequate knowledge of journalistic ethics and editorial standards.
- Good understanding of current affairs, national politics, and public interest issues.
- Proficiency in using digital verification tools / fact-checking tools and methodologies (e.g., Google Fact Check Tools, reverse image search, InVID, TinEye).
- Have experience to work in a media monitoring/fact-checking team.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in Bengali and English.
Responsibilities & Context:
- To monitor various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok and encrypted chat apps for trending or viral news.
- To prepare and upload authentic report by verifying the accuracy of posts, images, videos, all facts, figures, dates, and quotes.
- To use digital verification techniques and tools like reverse image search, metadata analysis, public databases, news archives, and expert opinions for fact-checking.
- To work with news teams and social media teams to flag and report misinformation.
- To maintain a database of verified claims and fake news trends.
- To stay updated on current events and disinformation tactics.
- To ensure ethical guidelines, legal requirements and trustworthiness the report.
