Job Context
The Fabric Technologist holds the accountability for managing the end-to-end fabric lifecycle—from sourcing and fabric development, including lab dip processes, through technical closure and bulk production—with a strong emphasis on China-based suppliers. This role demands solid technical expertise and a deep understanding of China’s supplier landscape, including mill capabilities, processing techniques, and sourcing practices, along with proven hands-on experience working directly with China suppliers, as the position involves full ownership of supplier interactions across both development and bulk stages. The incumbent will be responsible for strict adherence to all buyer requirements, technical specifications, and ZXY SOPs to effectively minimize risks throughout the process. Acting as a key technical bridge between ZXY and China suppliers, the role requires close collaboration with mills, wet and dry processing units, and internal cross-functional teams to achieve right-first-time approvals, maintain consistent bulk fabric quality, and continuously enhance supplier performance.
Job Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end fabric sourcing, development, and bulk execution with a strong focus on China-based suppliers
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new mills while ensuring alignment with approved supplier strategies
Conduct mill evaluations and secure internal approvals prior to bulk production
Build and maintain strong working relationships with China suppliers, ensuring clear technical communication
Leverage in-depth knowledge of China mill capabilities to select the most suitable suppliers for each development
Drive supplier performance through continuous follow-up, technical support, and issue resolution
Ensure full compliance with buyer requirements, company SOPs, RSL, and sustainability standards
Collaborate closely with design and sourcing teams to support fabric development and hanger presentations
Interpret buyer requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications for development
Prepare and submit development tech packs, including risk assessments, test reports, and approval standards
Conduct lab dip evaluations ensuring accurate shade and quality compliance
Proactively identify and mitigate risks during development to prevent bulk production issues
Manage deviations by securing buyer approvals with proper technical justification when required
Validate bulk fabric production against approved standards and ensure consistency across batches
Monitor supplier quality performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven insights
