Job Context:
∎ Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) is a Swiss based, not-for-profit international development organization, working in Asia and Africa for last 40 years with an aim to improve the income and livelihood opportunities of smallholders by imparting sustainable agriculture technologies and activating value chains that increase food production, improve access to market and mitigate agricultural and financial risks. Syngenta Foundation has been implementing several cutting edge agricultural development projects in Bangladesh since 2011. To learn more, please visit www.syngentafoundation.org.
∎ Currently, SFSA Bangladesh is implementing a project titled as `Boosting Agriculture Risk Mitigation in Bangladesh through Climate Insurance for Small-holders` that envisions to enhance the resilience of smallholder farmers through climate insurance. The overall project objective is to design a set of customer centric Agriculture Climate Risk Insurance (ACRI) solution for various crops and perils (e.g. rice, potato, vegetable, maize and flood etc. that is need based and adequately designed and tailored considering the risks faced by the smallholder farmers in Bangladesh. This initiative will be backed with development of an innovative end-to-end Agri-InsurTech Cloud Platform to facilitate efficient policy administration, contract monitoring and claims management. It is a 2-years long project, co-funded by the Insuresilience Solutions Fund (ISF), managed by the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, and lead by Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA).
∎ For this project, SFSA Bangladesh is looking for an experienced English Translator who is fluent and proficient in English as well as Bangla.
∎ Type of Contract : Short term (1 month)
∎ Location of Posting : Bogura district
∎ Job Summary: Translator will be responsible to accompany foreign visitors and facilitate communication between receiving party and visitors,
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Attend workshop and meetings and act as a professional translator to mediate discussion
∎ Translate and explain our experts' instruction in Bangla to our officers for better understanding, so that our officers can easily connect with our foreign experts;
∎ In the field activity accompany our foreign experts and facilitate communication between farmers and our experts, explain the massage to farmers and translate our farmers answers from Bangla to English to our experts;
∎ Translate technical information; and
∎ Write report and edit document.
∎ Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible to perform any other assignment(s) given by the management of SFSA Bangladesh.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Good written and oral communication skills in English and Bangla.
∎ At least 1 years of working experience in similar field.
∎ Basic computer skills in MS Office, MS Excel and emailing.
∎ Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team.
∎ Ability and willingness to travel different areas.
