Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in an English Medium school.

  • Experience teaching Edexcel Primary and/or Edexcel Secondary will be an advantage.

  • Experience teaching students at both Primary and Secondary levels will be preferred.

  • Candidates with strong English language skills, subject knowledge, and relevant teaching competencies may also be considered.

Responsibilities & Context:

Methodist English Medium School (MEMS), a programme of Bangladesh Methodist Church Trust, invites applications from qualified, committed, enthusiastic, and student-focused professionals for the position of English Teacher to teach students in Primary and Secondary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured, age-appropriate English lessons in accordance with the relevant Edexcel curriculum.

  • Ensure learning through fun by using engaging, student-centred, and age-appropriate teaching methodologies that make English learning interesting, enjoyable, meaningful, and relevant to students’ everyday lives and communication needs.

  • Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills.

  • Foster students’ confidence, creativity, critical thinking, and effective communication skills through interactive classroom activities.

  • Develop students’ ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.

  • Prepare effective lesson plans, teaching materials, worksheets, assignments, activities, and assessments appropriate to students’ learning needs.

  • Use stories, role play, discussions, presentations, games, creative writing, reading activities, and digital resources to make English lessons interactive and engaging.

  • Assess students’ progress through classwork, homework, class tests, projects, presentations, and other appropriate assessment methods.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date academic and student progress records.

  • Identify students’ individual learning needs and provide appropriate support, guidance, and enrichment.

  • Provide constructive feedback to students and encourage them to continuously improve their language proficiency and communication skills.

  • Encourage students to participate in debates, public speaking, creative writing, reading programmes, competitions, and other English-related activities.

  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, disciplined, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Use appropriate digital tools and educational technology to enhance English language teaching and learning.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate actively in departmental, academic, co-curricular, and school-wide activities.

  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding students’ academic progress and development when required.

  • Uphold the school’s policies, professional standards, safeguarding requirements, and institutional values.

  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development and improvement of teaching practices.

  • Perform other academic, co-curricular, and professional responsibilities assigned by the School Authority.
