Job Context:
∎ Bangladesh Red Crescent Society’s Health Department with the support of Danish Red Cross is implementing Enhanced Resilience Building Program to support the community on Health, Psychosocial and DRR. Currently we are looking for a suitable Bangladeshi candidate for the following position:
∎ Project Name : Enhanced Resilience Building Program.
∎ Duration of Contract : 1 year (Up to 31-12-2022)
∎ Reportable To : Director, Health
∎ Job Purpose : Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the DRR Officer is responsible for the effective planning and implementation of activities in targeted areas of Bangladesh based on approved log frame and budgets. He/She will provide the necessary technical support to staff and volunteers in the roll out of DRR activities as planned.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support the Programme Manager in quality operational planning, budgeting, and implementation of DRR activities at field level.
∎ Support operational assessments, including community risk assessments, baseline and end line surveys, data collection, documentation, and dissemination of relevant information on DRR initiatives
∎ Support the review and adaption of DRR training modules, materials, and tools relevant to the different target groups and in accordance with the agreed framework.
∎ Provide technical support through trainings, coaching and supervision of staff and volunteers at Unit level and within the target implementation areas.
∎ Prepare and submit annual and quarterly detailed workplans and budgets to guide activity implementation at field level
∎ Support the identification and selection of community areas and beneficiaries of DRR interventions based on an approved selection criterion
∎ Support the roll out of child focussed DRR trainings, simulations and drills targeting schools, Madrasas and other institutions of higher learning.
∎ Establish and strengthen coordination mechanisms with relevant local government units and agencies to build and strengthen partnerships at field level for the smooth and coordinated implementation of the activities.
∎ Support the establishment and strengthening of community engagement and accountability mechanisms, including systems for managing complaints and feedback
∎ Support regular programme supportive supervision, monitoring and evaluation of programme activities.
∎ Prepare and submit regular programme and financial field reports as per schedule, including documented success stories and lessons learnt
∎ Attend and participate in relevant DRR internal and external meetings and coordination activities, as advised by the Programme Manager
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years operational experience in working with DRR programmes with reputable organisations in Bangladesh.
∎ Strong background and trainings in implementation of disaster risk reduction interventions in development and humanitarian contexts.
∎ Experienced in organizing and facilitating trainings, workshops and meetings for local communities (both adults and children).
∎ Proven experienced in working with communities, local governments, line agencies, and other humanitarian organizations.
∎ Knowledge and skills in project management (assessments, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation).
∎ Experience in Forecast Based Action (FbA), cash-voucher programming, Climate- smart solutions, Climate Change Adaptions (CAA) and other community driven solutions for DRR.
∎ Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members in a diverse cultural environment.
∎ Excellent communication (written and verbal), coordination, managing skills.
∎ Strong problem identification, analytical and solving skills.
∎ Good interpersonal and negotiation skills.
∎ Excellent in operating MS office software and use of technology in program management.
∎ Ability to work with limited supervision, lead team of diverse people, can travel to remotes places and can cope with multiple stress including fragile contexts.
Salary:
∎ BDT- 50,000.00 (Consolidated per month)
