Master’s degree in Business Development / Industrial Engineering / Environmental Science, or a related discipline from a reputed institutions.
Minimum 4 years demonstrated working experience in relevant field in value chain development/market linkage, or SME incubation or any related field.
Field experience in working with municipalities, private sector actors, and the informal waste sector
Strong knowledge of plastic types (PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP, etc.) and recycling processes

Job Purpose
The Deputy Manager, Circular Economy will be responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing the business model of a plastic waste recycling factory. The role involves building sustainable revenue streams, building relationships with suppliers and buyers and ensuring efficient operations of the facility. The role requires both strategic thinking and technical know-how, with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, private sector partnerships, data-driven monitoring, and scaling of circular economy pilots.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Business Model Development
Lead the design and execution of circular economy aspects of the plastic recycled products from the recycling facility, including waste segregation, recycling innovation, composting, and upcycling.
Conduct feasibility studies, market assessments and financial modelling
Identify and diversify revenue streams (e.g., recycled pellets, finished recycled products, B2B and B2C opportunities).
Develop cost structures, pricing strategies, and profitability forecasts to ensure financial sustainability.
Facilitate public-private partnerships to enhance recycling infrastructure, market linkage, and product innovation.
Design and scale models for plastic waste collection, sorting, and recycling.
Operations & Product Innovation
Ensure regular maintenance of recycling machinery and floating barriers.
Lead research and development to upgrade recycled plastic products and increase market demand.
Identify opportunities to develop high-quality recycled goods for commercial and community use.
Facilitate co-creation with designers and artisans to develop marketable recycled products.
Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards
Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
Ensure regular maintenance of recycling machinery and floating barriers.
Lead research for upgrade of recycled plastic products to create market demand.
Identify opportunities to develop high-quality recycled goods for commercial and community use.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
