∎ We are currently seeking a communications officer (Bandarban-based) for the Bandarban Agriculture and Nutrition Initiative (BANI) project of Helen Keller Intl. Bangladesh.
∎ COUNTRY PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Starting in 1978 by promoting and implementing Nutrition programs, today, Helen Keller Bangladesh is implementing large scale food and health systems program work in Dhaka, the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), Sylhet, Sathkhira, Bogura, Pabna and Narayangonj through and with the government of Bangladesh, as well as national and international partners and NGOs, academic and research institutions, and the private sector.
∎ Since its beginning, Helen Keller Bangladesh has worked with over 150 local, international and government partners to establish Enhanced Homestead Food Production (HFP) programs benefiting over 4.5 million people. We are currently implementing programs to prevent blindness and Neglected Tropical Diseases alongside to programs to improve nutrition and food security that integrate gender-sensitive approaches.
∎ SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The communications officer, for the USAID funded Bandarban Agriculture and Nutrition Initiative (BANI) improved food security and nutrition activity will be based at Bandarban and report to Director, Collaboration, Learning, and Adaption (CLA) and Communications and work closely with the Bandarban-based Program team.
∎ S/he will be responsible for addressing BANI`s communication needs including developing content and coordinating the production of videos, ensuring timely completion and appropriate dissemination of Social and Behavior Change Communications (SBCC) products and other communication materials to staff and/or to public through social media platforms. The communications officer will guide communications activities, publications, and social media to consistently articulate BANI`s programmatic objectives and results and ensure compliance with the project`s marking and branding policies. The incumbent will be responsible for overall quality control, final production of BANI`s varied and integrated communications products and services, including videos, success stories, Facebook page, and YouTube account and ensure proper archival methods for all final communications and training/program materials produced under BANI.
∎ The Communication officer will supervise storytelling officer (2) units and oversee production of Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) materials and external communications such as Facebook posts and success stories. Regular program data will be utilized, and ad hoc learning studies will be conducted as needed.
∎ Duration: Up to March 2025

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support the development of informational and SBCC products including videos, success stories, and Facebook posts.
∎ Ensure compliance with relevant communications and branding policies.
∎ Supervise composing; translating; editing various documents required for internal and external use.
∎ Prepare briefing materials for program visitors and speakers, etc. including key messages, talking points, scene setters, and ensure visit preparations.
∎ Develop detailed action plans for communication products based on overall BANI work plans and lead their implementation.
∎ Oversee the day-to-day activities of the communications functions, including budgeting, planning and implementation of each product.
∎ Contribute to learning dissemination events in accordance with the project's Learning Activities Plans
∎ Document and keep communication materials up to date.
∎ Produce communication and advocacy materials e.g. images, audios, videos, briefing notes, translations, publications, printing materials that represent BANI's activities and aligns with HKI's global standard of communication toolkit.
∎ Maintain and update the media relations contact database to support in the coordination with government and non-government stakeholders and share with BANI's internal and external personals when necessary.
∎ Organize the BANI supported special events and activities, participate in observance days and fairs lead by the government entities to promote our program goals.
∎ Coordinate and collaborate with BANI's other team members to accomplish the successful event management, success story collection and audio and video production from the field.
∎ Submit the monthly report of BANI's participation in government events and observance days in accordance with program activities.
∎ Ensure compliance with BANI's Marking Plan and Branding Strategy
∎ Oversee development of all video and print communications for program implementation and manage relationships with associated vendors.
∎ Support project staff in managing training and other program documents, including finalizing packaging for publication.
∎ Properly archive all communications and final training/program materials in compliance with Helen Keller policies and USAID regulations
∎ Support the dissemination of program results online and through in-person events.
∎ Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all field-level print and electronic material including social media sites and internal distribution.

Additional Requirements:
∎ 5 years of relevant experience.
∎ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
∎ Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
∎ Fluency in one of the ethnic languages (preferred)
∎ Prior work experience in CHT (preferred)
∎ Familiarity of CHT socio-political history and multi-cultural environment (preferred)
∎ Excellent organizational skills including strong attention to detail.
∎ Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets PowerPoint, excel, photoshop, designing software, video editing, web designing, and desktop publishing.
∎ Ability to initiate and cultivate relationships with media personnel and journalists.
∎ Working knowledge of and experience with USG-funded program management, policies, regulations, and procedures (preferred)
∎ Knowledge and experience liaising with GoB, private sector counterparts and development partners; ability to coordinate with appropriate stakeholders.
∎ Knowledge of evolving social media technologies (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc.); with proficiency in design and visual media.
∎ Technical knowledge on photo and video shooting, editing, etc.
∎ Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and software such as Photoshop/Illustrator etc.
∎ Knowledge of gender equality and social inclusion approaches.
∎ Fluency in English and Bangla both written and oral.
