Job Context:
∎ Nature Conservation Management (NACOM) is the pioneer, non-government, pro-environment organization in Bangladesh founded in 1998 with broader mandate of activities in the area of natural resources management, climate change and livelihood development. NACOM`s goal is protection of nature for better human life.
∎ NACOM invites application from potential Bangladeshi nationals (Male/Female) for implementing Ecosystem Conservation through Livelihood Improvement and Forest Enhancement (ECO LIFE) Project, funded by USAID. This is a three years project and to be implemented in Cox`s Bazar District, Bangladesh.
∎ The intent of the project is to conserve and manage the local ecosystem, resources and biodiversity within targeted Protected Areas (PA)and Ecological Critical Areas (ECA) to restore ecological functions and integrity while advancing co-management in PAs and community-based management in ECA for consolidating long-term co-management of PAs and ECAs. The focuses of the present project are:
∎ Forest and watershed ecosystems restored to a functional level in targeted areas;
∎ Targeted host communities adopt less damaging fuel alternatives to firewood;
∎ Sustainable livelihood options adopted by the targeted portion of the host-community;
∎ Local Actors` (CMOs, UP, NGOs and others) organizational capacity strengthened; and
∎ Evidence gathering, collaborative, learning and adapting monitoring and impact assessment system developed and made functional to inform Funded Organization and other partners.
∎ In order to restore the ecological functions and integrity it will be necessary to rehabilitate degraded habitats undertaking restoration programs, protection to critical and threatened species and ecosystems, building local conservation constituencies through awareness raising and capacity building of key stakeholders, As poverty is the major driver for local forest and resource degradation, livelihood protection of poor resource users through providing alternate income generation activities.
∎ Job Nature: Full-time (34 months, 80 percent time for EcoLife and 20 percent to other projects)
∎ Job Location: Dhaka based. Frequently travel to project site within Cox`s Bazar District.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Contribute to the implementation of the local works, communications and outreach activities, with particular attention to supporting the communications strategy;
∎ Identify target groups and organize various communications and outreach programs as deemed appropriate with the local works project objectives;
∎ Work as a member on all communication campaigns from planning to implantation
∎ Assist in conferences, workshop and seminars and all regional-level outreach and communication works;
∎ Write success stories and capture project photographs
∎ Work on awareness and advocacy issues and activities
∎ Close coordination and assistance in all communication matters with co-management orgs
∎ Close Coordination with Project Director and project staff to implement communication and outreach activities and ensure message delivery
∎ Coordination with Site Facilitators and Field Organizers to implement communication activities
∎ Coordinate all press and media relations in regional level
∎ Taking lead role in security arrangement according to the security plan.
∎ Help in project report writing.
∎ Implement Branding and Marking plan of the project
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 4- 5 years' work experiences in communication, awareness raising, project report development, awareness materials development, manual development.
∎ Sound computer literacy.
Salary:
∎ Salary: Maximum BDT. 50,000/- per month
