The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for providing strategic financial leadership to ensure the company's sustainable growth, profitability, and long-term value. The role encompasses the full spectrum of financial management, with a strong emphasis on the unique commercial and operational dynamics of the apparel manufacturing and export industry. The CFO will oversee financial planning, cost control, working capital management, and risk mitigation, while supporting operational excellence across sourcing, production, merchandising, and exports.
Financial Strategy & Executive Leadership
Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with its long-term business goals and market opportunities.
Serve as a strategic advisor to the Board of Directors on financial performance, investment decisions, capital allocation, and growth opportunities.
Lead financial due diligence for new business initiatives, factory expansions, capital expenditures, and potential Merge & Acquisition activities.
Drive a culture of financial discipline and accountability across the organization.
Costing & Margin Management (Apparel-Specific)
Oversee the end-to-end product costing process, from initial sample costing to final FOB (Free on Board) pricing and margin analysis.
Work in close partnership with merchandising and sourcing teams to optimize costs of fabric, trims, accessories, and CM (Cutting & Making).
Implement and monitor robust cost-control mechanisms across all factories operations, tracking cost per minute (CPM), efficiency, and overheads.
Analyze profitability buyer, market, product category, and individual order to guide commercial strategy.
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Control
Lead the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
Conduct detailed variance analysis (budget vs. actual) and provide actionable insights to department heads to improve performance.
Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making and scenario planning.
Monitor and report on key financial and operational KPIs to the executive team and board.
Working Capital & Treasury Management
Manage the company's cash flow and liquidity to ensure operational needs are met efficiently.
Optimize the working capital cycle, with a focus on managing inventory levels (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) and debtor/creditor days.
Oversee all banking relationships and manage credit facilities, including Letters of Credit (LC), Usance Payable at Sight (UPAS), packing credit, and other trade finance instruments.
Ensure timely realization of export proceeds and manage foreign exchange exposure through effective hedging strategies.
Accounting, Reporting & Compliance
Ensure the integrity of all financial data and reporting, guaranteeing compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or local GAAP.
Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Manage all statutory and internal audits, ensuring a clean and unqualified opinion.
Ensure full good governance & compliance with all relevant tax, VAT, customs, labor, and corporate laws and regulations in the jurisdictions of operation.
Team Leadership & Systems Enhancement
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across finance, accounts, costing.
Drive the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes, leveraging ERP capabilities (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or a specialized garment ERP) to enhance efficiency and reporting.
Foster a culture of accuracy, continuous improvement, and commercial partnership within the finance function.
