Responsibilities & Context:

Action for Social Development (ASD) is inviting application from committed & progressive development worker for the position of Centre In Charge under the "She Rises project” funded by SOS-Children’s Village Worldwide (CVW) with technical support from SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh. Candidates having work experience in similar type of position and willing to work anywhere in Dhaka City is requested to apply.

Child Development Centre (CDC) is a centre for 40 street children (girls) where night shelter facilities are included is located in Mohammadpur area. Street children do not have place to sleep at night. Children especially girls are very unsafe on the street. They become victim of physical, sexual abuse. CDC provides them safe night shelter, basic entitlements like 3 times food, basic education, vocational training, life skill training, counseling, treatment, referral health, legal and psychosocial support etc. Girls stay there like their family. Projects reintegrate them with family or socially after prepare them for mainstream life so that they would not come back to the street again. Keeping the importance of safety and security of girl street children, CDC is planned with new measures to ensure protection and change their entire life positively.

Centre In Charge

Job Description / Responsibility

  • Centre In Charge - CDC under the direct supervision of Programme Director of ASD is primarily responsible for operating Child Development Center (CDC) and providing basic services to street children residing at CDC.

  • Build rapport with the street children parents/guardians of street children.

  • Build good relationship with local community people in project working area and maintain cooperative relationship with the local level stakeholders.

  • Collect street children to provide services through regular field visit regular basis and work closely with the street children to overcome high risk situation

  • Facilitate the enrolment process of girl street children in formal education

  • Ensure basic services such as shelter, safety, nutrition, education, health, and hygiene and recreation to change lifestyle and behavior of CDC beneficiaries.

  • Ensure business development support to children for promoting entrepreneurship in CDC

  • Ensure vocational skill development training and job placement for children in CDC

  • Ensure re-integration of CDC children to with families or society or other organization.

  • Update the CDC children profile and prepare case study and success story

  • Arrange and facilitate different session with children, parents and other key stakeholder of CDC.

  • Prepare report and keep record of all initiate day by day and inform up to date to project management.

  • Manage CDC staff according to the Child safeguarding policy, Gender policy, HR policy and practices of the organization.

  • Perform any other reasonable duties and tasks as assigned by the organization and the respective supervisors.
