• At least 3 years

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in capacity building, training, or organizational development, preferably within the context of governance, civil society, or community development.

• Experience working with Local Elected Government Institutions (LEGIs), civil society organizations (CSOs), and community stakeholders in Bangladesh is highly desirable.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and marginalized groups.

• Understanding of local governance frameworks and the role of LEGIs in Bangladesh, including relevant policies and regulations.

• Strong facilitation and training skills, with the ability to design and deliver effective capacity-building programs tailored to diverse audiences.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, proficiency with entire Microsoft Office Suite preferred;

• Experience managing a team;

• Ability to work well within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision;

• Bangladesh citizenship required;

• Professional fluency in English required.

• Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Capacity Building Officer for the USAID funded Responsive Local Governance (RLG) Activity in Bangladesh. The goal of the Activity is catalyzing change within Bangladesh’s local governance system necessitates investment to strengthen Local Elected Government Institutions (LEGI) capacity, improve civil society and citizen participation in governance structures, and bolster multisectoral coordination for quality service delivery. The specific objective of this Activity is to develop LEGIs as an effective, responsive, inclusive, and accountable institution to address social issues and provide quality basic services to the most marginalized. This is a full-time position based in Rangpur. This position is only open to the citizens of Bangladesh.

Essential Job Duties:

• Design, develop, and deliver capacity-building workshops, training sessions, and seminars tailored to the needs of Local Elected Government Institutions (LEGIs), civil society organizations, and other local stakeholders.
• Facilitate interactive training sessions that promote participatory learning and engage diverse audiences effectively.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop capacity-building programs that align with project objectives and promote good governance practices.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local government officials, civil society organizations, and community leaders to foster collaboration and support for capacity-building efforts.
• Prepare regular reports on capacity-building activities, outcomes, and lessons learned for internal and donor reporting.
• Stay informed about best practices and trends in capacity building and local governance to enhance program effectiveness.
• Create training materials, toolkits, and resources that support the delivery of capacity-building initiatives.
• Provide other such similar or related services as DI may reasonably request.

Reporting:

• This position reports to the Program Manager.
