Job Context:
∎ The Business Development Manager - Dairy will be expected to take on a leadership role for implementing value and market driven strategies and models for sustainable dairy business development. S/he will lead market research for enterprise development and provides decision-making support for facilitating investments into entrepreneurial models of dairy development. The position will support in developing the dairy business canvas to make sure that investment portfolios are backed by sound financial analysis. S/he will review and make recommendations to help improve business operations of entrepreneurs and enterprises within SaFaL cooperative and Solidaridad`s dairy programme in Bangladesh.
∎ To promote access to quality milk value added products to urban and peri urban consumers and to promote cooperative women led dairy business, the business development manager will support the development and establishment of women entrepreneurs led dairy value-added product production, processing and sales centers. S/he will lead the integration of supply chain, capacity building, promote access to services and market information, and strengthen cooperative and business management systems. These activities will be critical to develop capacities of women entrepreneur`s, cooperative management team and dairy farmers on good dairy farming practices, improve business transactions with market actors, create a supportive business ecosystem for dairy farmers and specifically develop women farmer-centric business cases that can attract further investment and ensure sustainability of Solidaridad`s efforts in creating a thriving dairy supply chain in Bangladesh. The position will be based in Khulna and will report to the Senior Programme Manager and collaborate with Head of Supply chain and Private Sector Engagement.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Shall be responsible for SaFaL Cooperative business planning, new business development, operation and development of sales strategies to grow the business in the local and national market.
∎ Develop new sales leads for women led new shops to promote dairy value-added products sweets, ghee, curd etc.
∎ Develop new sales leads for BMR/TMR, Minamix, silage, PL and any other suitable business for cooperative and ensure engagement of the cooperative members in these business
∎ Operationalize All VSM centric cooperative business unit and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective resource management for BMR unit, Input unit, Milk value added processing unit etc in which every unit can run effectively.
∎ Ensuring better ROI and guiding, managing cooperative EC members for better engagement on these businesses.
∎ Monitoring daily operation of the business units, Analysing the performance of each business unit like production, sales, delivery, wastage, transport, payment etc and providing necessary guidance to team members for better performance.
∎ Develop market linkage and business channel for B2B and B2C to increase revenue of the cooperative
∎ Managing all regulatory requirements of the business and maintain close liaison with relevant department
∎ Gain new customers from different markets, support existing key accounts and explore new corporate sales and francize model for developing and scaling the dairy model.
∎ To prepare daily/weekly/ periodic reports and analyses related to the sales and marketing activities
∎ Have a clear knowledge and focus on new channels like Institutions and Modern Trade, E-Commerce to build Distribution, Visibility and Volumes, etc
∎ Closely monitoring Distribution infrastructure and its effectiveness. Continuous focus on increasing availability of Products, Regular Sales performance review and feedback.
∎ Support the design and implementation of the dairy program's key components; coordinate with field staff to plan quarterly program activities, ensure quality programme implementation and provide necessary backstopping support for smooth implementation;
∎ Support the development, piloting, and implementation of digital tools like i2i apps, soli- trace, IVR etc. for capacity building and financial inclusion, in coordination with digital technology teams (internal and external) and other relevant stakeholders
∎ Ensure that gender and social inclusion concepts and principles are internalized and promoted among sector stakeholders
∎ Analyse the performance of digital tools, identify challenges, and develop solutions to enhance performance and sustainability of digital solutions
∎ Review and analyse ongoing interventions, design and propose new innovative interventions based on observed results, and ensure quality implementation;
∎ Develop business cases for quality service delivery models for breed, feed, fodder, and veterinary services inline with IWRM activities
∎ Analyze portfolio business performance (risk, rewards and managing risk for ROI) and develop financial models
∎ Work closely with entrepreneurs, private sector, academia and investors to develop market focused programs under-pinned by sound business cases
∎ Ensure inclusive supply chain development and marketing for dairy women farmers at the local and national markets and promote responsible sourcing in collaboration with milk processors;
∎ Manage efficiently a professional team, build the capacity of the team members to deliver designed interventions and monitor progress.
∎ Assist management in drafting and developing various short term and long-term business plans, operational processes and procedures, contracts and agreements from time to time.
∎ Carry out process documentation, collection and compilation of required information from the entrepreneurs and stakeholders.
∎ Perform the cross functional activities with relevant department
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum of 12-15 years of relevant work experience in the field of dairy/agri-commodity marketing.
∎ In-depth understanding of agri-business, with a particular focus on dairy and application of digital technologies;
∎ Fluency in both Bengali and English with excellent report writing skills;
∎ Experience in dairy market system, private sector engagement and supply chain development
∎ Ability to communicate ideas effectively, and to write clearly and concisely.
∎ Experience in implementing programmes through partnerships with local development organizations, private sector, and relevant government departments.
∎ Candidate's Competencies & Attributes:
∎ Must ensure effective team alignment and coordination between operational and support functions to ensure overall performance;
∎ Ability to work in a team;
∎ Proven understanding of financial and operational aspects of agri-businesses.
∎ Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
∎ Effective and efficient communication skills.
