Job Context:
∎ The Business Development and Investment Analyst will need to take a leadership role of the organization`s market research, business development and operational activities in the evolving discipline of sustainable business development. S/he will undertake market research for enterprise development and provides decisions support for investments. The position will support in developing business canvass to make sure that the investment portfolios have solid financial flow of information for profit and loss. S/he will review how a business is functioning and make recommendations to help improve business operation.
∎ The Business Development and Investment Analyst will work closely with Senior Managers as part of the team to drive the business growth and assist in the organization business analysis, legal issues, due diligence, business negotiation to identify, evaluate and implement sustainable business on behalf of Solidaridad.
∎ In this role, the incumbent drive the growth of the business by generating existing and new business opportunities as well as motivating employees to create a vision of sustainability. A key component of this job is strategic planning, therefore, the incumbent must have practical experience and evidence based knowledge of the marketplace of current agriculture and food business. S/he will work closely with the field team to identify potential new clients, craft proposals, and review contracts. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing relevant investments opportunities. S/he will have first level of conversations with various private foundations, supply chain partners for exploring business opportunities, blended finance or other related dialogue and meeting as needed. Most importantly, the incumbent for this position will have a deep personal commitment and demonstrated experience of working with the businesses that have the purpose of meeting both social and financial objectives.
∎ The position will operationally report to the Country Manager and will work in close direction from the Regional Head - Impact Investment. The position will be based in the Solidaridad office in Dhaka with frequent field visit to Solidaridad operational areas.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develop strategy and action plan to run and operate business and enterprises
∎ Develop new business opportunities with different corporate companies
∎ Facilitate effective business partnership with both existing and new corporate partners, public partners, NGOs and others network members where appropriate
∎ Preparation of business pitch and proposals for different potential investors and influence for investment
∎ Planning, organizing, directing and running day to day business operations. Identify the new areas of product development; social business concept, online, e-commerce etc.
∎ Conduct due diligence on investments opportunities and prepare business models, business plans and explore social-cost benefit analysis ratios
∎ Analyze portfolio business performance (risk, rewards and managing risk for ROI) and develop financial models
∎ Ensure Commodity specific market trend analysis, price analysis and export analysis and preparing report for management
∎ Work closely with entrepreneurs, trade sector bodies, Govt. bodies and academia to develop market focused programs under-pinned by solid business cases
∎ Reporting to management with proper recommendations on business updates, feasibility analysis of the financial statements and legal matters
∎ Actively engage in the business processes for effective monitoring of the operations and triggering immediate corrective actions
∎ Assist management in drafting and developing various short term and long term business plan, operational process and procedures, contract and agreement from time to time.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Solid and practical experience of a minimum of 5 years in business development and investment proposal development in development/ financial institute/corporate agencies.
∎ Strong analytical and conceptual skills and ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, with good presentation skills
∎ Skilled at examining and interpreting data for investment decision making
∎ Knowledge and experience in agribusiness and market analysis
∎ Developing financial modelling and projection to run and operate business
∎ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
∎ Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
