Position Overview
The Backend Development Manager will lead the backend engineering team of a leading PSP company in Bangladesh, ensuring the design, development, and deployment of scalable, secure, and high-performing systems. The role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and strategic vision to support digital payments innovation, financial inclusion, and regulatory compliance under Bangladesh Bank guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
Develop and execute backend technology roadmap aligned with the business and regulatory requirements of PSP operations.
Drive innovation in payment services by adopting best-in-class architecture, frameworks, and cloud-native practices.
Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Security, and Business teams to deliver seamless financial services.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and upskill backend developers to build a high-performing engineering team.
Define coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
System Architecture & Development
Design scalable microservices-based backend systems for payments, settlement, reconciliation, and transaction monitoring.
Ensure system resiliency, high availability (24/7 uptime), and secure integrations with partners (banks, MFS, PSPs).
Optimize database architecture and API performance for large-scale financial transactions.
Security & Compliance
Ensure backend systems comply with Bangladesh Bank PSP regulations, PCI-DSS, and data privacy standards.
Work closely with cybersecurity and risk teams to implement secure coding, encryption, and fraud detection mechanisms.
Monitor system vulnerabilities and apply patches proactively.
Operational Excellence
Establish KPIs for system performance, uptime, and transaction throughput.
Implement CI/CD pipelines for faster and more reliable releases.
Oversee incident management and root cause analysis to minimize service disruptions.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
3–5 years of managerial/leadership experience in fintech, MFS, PSP, or banking IT.
Proven expertise in Java, Python, Node.js, or Go, with microservices and API-first architecture.
Strong knowledge of databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Hands-on experience with payment gateways, PSP platforms, or financial transaction systems.
Skills & Competencies:
Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and real-time processing.
Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Knowledge of DevOps, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD.
