Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Asst. Manager / Manager – Commercial (Import) to oversee and manage all import-related commercial activities for our RMG manufacturing operations. The role will be responsible for ensuring timely import of raw materials, fabrics, accessories, machinery and other production-related items while maintaining compliance with customs, banking and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the Commercial Import team and ensure smooth day-to-day import operations.
Manage the complete import process, including LC opening, amendment, shipment, document handling, customs clearance, and retirement of import documents.
Handle import of fabrics, yarn, accessories, trims, chemicals, machinery, spare parts, and other RMG-related materials.
Coordinate with Procurement, Planning, Production, Finance, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and Merchandising teams to ensure materials arrive according to production requirements.
Prepare, review, and verify Proforma Invoice (PI), L/C, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading/AWB, Certificate of Origin, Insurance documents, and other import documents.
Liaise with banks regarding LC opening, amendment, acceptance, payment, retirement, and other trade finance matters.
Coordinate closely with C&F agents, freight forwarders, shipping lines, suppliers, banks, customs authorities, and other government/regulatory bodies.
Monitor shipment schedules and take necessary action to avoid delays in customs clearance and material delivery.
Ensure proper classification and verification of HS Codes, customs duties, VAT, taxes, and other applicable charges.
Ensure compliance with Bangladesh Bank, NBR, Customs, Import Policy Order, Bond/Customs regulations, and other applicable laws and procedures.
Maintain and monitor import permits, licenses, bonded warehouse documentation, UD/UP-related documentation, where applicable.
Monitor the status of pending LCs, shipments, shipping documents, customs clearance, and outstanding payments.
Review and control import-related costs, including customs duties, port charges, freight, C&F charges, demurrage, detention, and other expenses.
Ensure proper documentation and record keeping for audit, customs, banking, and regulatory purposes.
Resolve import-related discrepancies, documentation issues, customs problems, and shipment delays.
Prepare regular MIS and management reports on LC status, import shipments, pending documents, clearance status, and commercial expenses.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, banks, C&F agents, freight forwarders, and regulatory authorities.
Identify operational risks and implement measures to improve import efficiency, cost control, compliance, and timely material availability.
Train, guide, and evaluate commercial team members to ensure effective performance.
