Knowledge of fish propagation, cultivation, and harvesting techniques
Understanding of fish diseases, health management, and water quality parameters
Strong leadership, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to use computer software competently, especially Microsoft Office programs
Ability to perform heavy physical labor and work outdoors in all weather conditions
Responsibilities & Context:
Breed fish by hatching eggs or rearing young fish; oversee feeding, tank and pond cleaning, and water quality monitoring
Monitor fish health and administer treatments for infection or disease
Assist in planning and directing the work of subordinate personnel
Provide regular performance feedback and support the training and development of hatchery staff
Direct the fabrication of hatchery equipment and establish preventative maintenance schedules for vehicles, tractors, and other specialized machinery
Ensure the overall upkeep of hatchery grounds and infrastructure
Maintain detailed and accurate records of stock, growth rates, and production data
Prepare reports on hatchery activities and analyze biological data to inform management decision
Promote and ensure safe working practices in the workplace
