Education: The candidate should have B.Sc. in Agriculture or MS in Genetics & Plant Breeding/ Biotechnology/ Molecular Genetics/ Molecular biology from any government approved institute with minimum CGPA 2.50 or 2nd division/ class or equivalent result in all academic examinations

Responsibilities & Context:

• Assist in the design, execution, and analysis of molecular biology experiments to support breeding programs for rice, maize, vegetables and other crops

• Conduct genetic diversity analysis, genetic purity tests, marker-trait association studies, and selecting or developing molecular markers for desirable traits (e.g., yield, disease resistance, stress tolerance)

• Perform DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, genotyping, and other molecular techniques

• Overseeing the daily operations of the molecular biology laboratory, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to schedules

• Maintain inventory of reagents, consumables, and equipment, initiating procurement requests as needed to ensure uninterrupted research activities

• Supervise and mentor junior research associates, technicians, and interns, providing technical guidance and performance feedback

• Manage new staff training on standard operating procedures (SOPs), equipment operation, and data analysis

• Foster a collaborative and productive work environment

• Prepare regular progress reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders

• Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so

• Perform any other duties as and when assigned by the respective authority
