∎ You will be Based in Khulna,with occasional travel across the country
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Maintain and/or expand sterile spirulina lab cultures (multiple strains) and provide them to the operations teams for use in the bioreactors
∎ Design and perform small scale lab experiments on spriulina lab cultures (flask scale 250 mL to 3L) to fix current challenges in production and/or improve the growth rates and production efficiencies
∎ Maintain your own outdoor bioreactors for the purpose of conducting medium scale operations research. These reactors will be used for experiments to improve production and/or techniques used by the operations team. Some physical and outdoor labor will be required and may involve getting sweaty or dirty on occasion.
∎ Record and report all data in an appropriate manner (online and/or in submitted reports)
∎ Report and communicate with your supervisor about the status and current challenges on a weekly to daily basis (depending on need)
∎ Receive and analyze samples of spirulina and culture media from operations sites and record data. If needed you will provide advice on how to correct or prevent any potential problems you uncover.
∎ Assist the operations team by explaining and/or providing training for any updated protocols that we develop. These may also involve daily or weekly communication with supervisors in operations and or visiting the operations site.
∎ Perform quality control and/or a quality assurance program for the final spirulina food products that we develop.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Only males are allowed to apply
∎ Desired experience: 2 or more years of practical experience in a microbiological laboratory working with microorganisms or equivalent (experience with microalgae is preferred); subculturing
∎ Experience in basic microbiological techniques including sterile culturing, pipetting, microscopy, autoclave operation
∎ Experience in quality control of food and/or water
∎ Experience in designing, executing and concluding experiments
∎ Good analytical and numerical abilities; strong organizational skills
∎ Meticulous attention to detail; extensive follow-up; accuracy
∎ Ability and willingness to learn; able to effectively multi-task
∎ Confident; independent; team player
∎ Multilingual skills - fluent in English, must be able to communicate with foreign-supervisor
