Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Responsibilities of your role are
∎ Maintain pure and sterile spirulina lab cultures (multiple strains) and to provide that fresh culture to the operations teams members to use to grow in the bioreactors
∎ Design and perform experiments to improve and/or analyze growth of spriulina in flasks and our bioreactors. We aim to fix and improve current challenges in production and/or improve the growth rates and production efficiencies.
∎ Record and report all data in an appropriate manner (online and/or in files or submitted reports)
∎ Report and communicate with your supervisor and teammates about the status, current challenges, and potential solution on a daily to weekly basis (depending on need)
∎ Receive and analyze samples of spirulina and culture media from operations sites, perform analysis and record data. Then advise them on how to correct or prevent any potential problems.. The analysis needed includes: microscopy (spirulina morphology and contamination) and chemical analysis (pH, titration, nitrate, phosphate, potassium, salinity, ect.,.).
∎ Maintain your own bioreactors (10-40 tanks) and provide ~10-15 hours per week in their maintenance. These reactors represent small to medium scale production and will be used for experiments to improve production and/or techniques used by the operations team. Some physical and outdoor labor may be required here.
∎ Assist the operations team by explaining and/or providing training for any updated protocols that we develop. These may also involve daily or weekly communication with supervisors in operations.
∎ Perform quality control and/or a quality assurance program for the final spirulina food products that we develop.
∎ You will Report Directly to Research Director of EnerGaia Co. Lt. and consult on scientific subjects
∎ The Skills, Experience & Qualifications you'll need to succeed in this role are...
∎ Degree in microbiology, chemistry, biotechnology, life sciences or related fields
∎ Desired experience: food and/or water quality control experience, such as per forming analysis of: Fecal coliform, E.coli, Yeast and mold, and other pathogens
∎ Desired experience: analytical chemistry techniques including titration.
∎ Good analytical and numerical abilities; strong organizational skills
∎ Meticulous attention to detail; extensive follow-up; accuracy
∎ Ability and willingness to learn; able to effectively multi-task
∎ Confident; independent; team player willing and able to communicate
∎ Fluency in English is a must
∎ The position is Based in Khulna, Bangladesh with occasional travel.
∎ Finally, as the company grows and develops, the responsibilities and key performance indicators of this position may alter, however, you will always be involved in making any changes to this Job Description.
