Responsibilities & Context:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accountant with HR responsibilities to join our team. This dual-role position requires a professional who can manage day-to-day financial operations while also supporting essential human resource functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and a working knowledge of HR policies, payroll administration, and employee support.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Duties

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and journal entries.

  • Process vendor invoices, employee expense claims, and company payments.

  • Handle accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and petty cash.

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing and reporting.

  • Support budget preparation and financial forecasting.

  • Prepare tax filings, VAT returns, and liaise with external auditors or regulatory bodies as needed.

  • Maintain and organize accounting documents and records in compliance with company policies.

HR Responsibilities

  • Maintain employee records and ensure accurate data entry in HR and payroll systems.

  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processes.

  • Prepare monthly payroll and ensure timely disbursement, including statutory deductions and reporting (e.g., PAYE, NI, pensions).

  • Manage leave balances, timesheets, and attendance tracking.

  • Support recruitment activities such as posting job ads, screening CVs, and coordinating interviews.

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and internal HR policies.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee HR-related queries and provide administrative support to the HR department.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in accounting; experience with HR or payroll functions is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks ) and HRIS/payroll systems.

  • Solid understanding of financial principles, payroll processing, and basic HR practices.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and office productivity tools.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or part-qualified).

  • Knowledge of local labor laws and HR compliance requirements.

  • Experience in a small to mid-sized business environment where multitasking is required.

  • Previous experience working in both finance and HR roles.
