  • Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service instructions.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems and safety procedures.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency maintenance needs.

  • Basic record-keeping and reporting skills.

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and tools.

  • Capability to work at heights, confined spaces, and various environmental conditions as required.

Responsibilities & Context:

ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country's primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people's ownership. Consequently, the ESDO's working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women's empowerment, health, the promotion of children's rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government's development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government's development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 408 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.

 

The AC & Electronic Specialist is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, CCTV, IPS, Monitor Servicing at ESDO offices, training centers, guest houses, and project locations. The incumbent will ensure that all cooling systems operate efficiently and safely to maintain a comfortable working environment.

 

ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the following position.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Installation and Maintenance

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair various types of air conditioning systems, including split, window, cassette, inverter, and centralised AC units. CCTV installation, LED monitor Servicing, IPS/UPS

  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance of AC and refrigeration equipment according to established schedules.

  • Perform cleaning of filters, condensers, evaporators, ducts, and other AC components.

  • Monitor equipment performance and identify potential issues before they lead to system failure.

 Troubleshooting and Repair

  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in air conditioning systems.

  • Repair or replace defective components such as compressors, capacitors, motors, thermostats, relays, and refrigerant lines.

  • Recharge refrigerants and ensure proper gas pressure levels following standard procedures.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns.

 Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with safety regulations and organizational policies.

  • Follow proper handling and disposal procedures for refrigerants and other hazardous materials.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment during and after maintenance activities.

  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing duties.

 Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inspections.

  • Prepare service reports and submit them to the supervisor regularly.

  • Keep track of spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials.

  • Report major technical issues and recommend replacement or upgrading of equipment when necessary.

 Support Services

  • Assist in the maintenance of electrical and related facilities when required.

  • Support office and project teams in ensuring uninterrupted operation of cooling systems during meetings, training sessions, and events.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by management related to facility maintenance.

 Installation & Commissioning:

  • Set up new air conditioning units (split, window, central) and refrigeration systems according to blueprints and manufacturer specifications.

 Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:

  • Test electrical, mechanical, and control systems using diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, manifold gauges, leak detectors).

 Maintenance:

  • Execute routine inspections, clean coils, replace filters, and lubricate motors to prevent system breakdowns.

 Refrigerant Management:

  • Perform leak detection, pressure testing, refrigerant recovery, and recharging in compliance with environmental and EPA standards.

 Repairs:

  • Replace defective parts like compressors, condensers, thermostats, expansion valves, and fans.

 Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of service calls, preventive maintenance activities, and parts inventory.
