Job Context:
∎ The Bangladesh Integrated Youth Activity (BIYA) consortium brings together leading youth development partners in Bangladesh and globally to deliver an innovative systems-based program aligned to USAID’s Youth in Development priorities – empowering youth to shape the systems that shape their lives.
∎ Youth Empowerment and Workforce Development Specialist will be responsible for providing technical oversight and guidance for the project together with the consortium partners. S/he will be responsible for promoting equitable access to economic opportunities for the vulnerable youths from the rapidly growing urban and peri-urban areas as well as from vulnerable disaster prone areas including areas impacted host communities due to influx of the Rohinga. The incumbent will also ensure to strengthen youth leadership through targeted support of local youth led and youth serving organization. S/he will be also responsible for strengthen youth system in partnership with youth, to provide more coordinated and effective services, practices and policies that embody the principles of Positive Youth Development (PYD).
∎ This position is contingent on funding.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Youth Empowerment and Workforce Development Specialist will be responsible for overall youth engagement of the project through accessing in economic opportunity, capacity building of youth led and youth serving organization and creating evidence for system development for managing effective services, practices and policies.
∎ Support in planning and implementing context specific Youth/Adolescent development and vocational training initiatives;
∎ Technical advice of the highest level with respect to the Youth/adolescent Project Model
∎ Promote the sharing of experiences and collaborative ‘Best Practices’ for the benefit of the Consortia.
∎ Develop and guide the entire process with protocols for capturing and building evidence to demonstrate the impact of the Youth/adolescent ready PM on family and child well-being;
∎ Facilitate capacity building of youth-serving and youth-led organizations working across multiple domains of change.
∎ Maintaining the relationships with the Department of Youth Development;
∎ Arranging mobile trainings for the BIYA youth target participants;
∎ Ensure inclusivity in youth engagement for capacity building of youth led organization, skill development and job opportunity.
∎ To assure the quality, safety and success of Youth ready PM, monitor overall quality issues along with the development of system (with the creation & implementation of standardized protocols and procedures) leading to most assured sustainability
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 28 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Experience in youth development approaches, material development, in youth training toolkit preparation, life skill, and vocational skill training
∎ Experience in evidence-based practices of youth and adolescent development initiatives
∎ Experience in concept paper/proposal development
∎ Interest and ability to relate positively to youth and adolescent, staff and community members
∎ Experience in working with workers from various technical sectors
∎ Team-builder and team-player
∎ Experience in managing, supervising and providing support to staff and volunteers
∎ Experience in community participatory project planning, implementation and monitoring.
∎ Experience and skills in preparing training materials appropriate to the needs and interests of Youth and adolescent
∎ Is a self-starter and is detailed oriented and has proven analytical/problem-solving abilities
∎ Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
∎ Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build personal relationship with teams and individuals
∎ Proficiency in communications programs and tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, email, etc.)
∎ Able to work well as a respected team member and build and promote team cohesion
