• This position requires expertise in web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.), experience with CMS platforms tailored to publishing, and knowledge of scholarly communication standards and tools. The ideal candidate will be innovative, detail-oriented, and passionate about advancing open-access publishing through cutting-edge technology.
• (At least 2 years of experience in web development, with a focus on both front-end and back-end tasks (freelance work may be considered).
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and back-end technologies (such as PHP, Node.js, or similar).
• Strong understanding of server-side development and experience with databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB).
• Knowledge of API integration, web security, and performance optimization.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to debug complex issues across full-stack systems.
• Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla.
• A strong control over UI/UX design principles and tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and deployment processes (e.g., AWS, Docker).
• The candidate must have strong expertise of UI/UX design principles and tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

As part of our expansion, we are hiring a Web Developer for our Bangladesh office, where you will play a critical role in building world-class academic publishing websites that serve scholars and researchers across the globe.

We aim to develop platforms with state-of-the-art features similar to industry leaders such as link.springer.com, tandfonline.com, frontiersin.org, mdpi.com, and more. 

Working hours: 9 am - 7 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

Website Design & Development

• Design, develop, and implement fully functional, responsive, and visually appealing websites tailored to the needs of academic publishing platforms.

• Work on both front-end and back-end development to ensure seamless website performance and optimal user experience.

• Collaborate with senior developers and the design team to integrate creative and functional design elements into websites.

Back-End Development

• Take ownership of back-end development tasks, including server-side logic, database management, and API integration.

• Ensure the security, scalability, and smooth performance of websites by writing clean, efficient, and maintainable back-end code.

• Assist in database design and management (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB), optimizing queries and ensuring data integrity.

Website Maintenance

• Provide ongoing maintenance and updates to ensure websites remain up to date with content, plugins, and features.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and fix issues as they arise, ensuring high levels of website uptime and smooth functionality.

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in both front-end and back-end code to ensure fast loading times and efficient operation.

• Perform regular testing and debugging to address bugs or errors across websites, ensuring functionality across different browsers and devices.

• Festival Bonus: 2

A strong commitment to the job and the organization is essential. Please note that this is a fully office-based position, requiring six working days per week (with Friday as the designated weekly holiday). The position includes a six-month probationary period, during which the selected employee will receive a monthly salary of BDT 35,000. Upon successful completion of the probation with highly satisfactory performance, the role will be made permanent, and the monthly salary will be increased to BDT 45,000.

The selected employee will be entitled to two festival bonuses, each equivalent to one month`s basic salary. Note that the basic salary constitutes half of the total monthly salary.
