Functional proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for logging daily product returns, scrap weigh-ins, and inventory balance records.
Attributes: Strong attention to detail, active supervisory skills, physical endurance, and the resilience to handle high-volume return stock and fast-paced factory workflows.
Responsibilities & Context:
As the Waste & Product Return Officer, you will oversee factory waste control, scrap handling, and returned market products (damage, transit defects, and expired goods). You will bridge product recovery and floor sanitation by receiving market returns from regional depots, performing physical inspections, segregating scrap from reusable packing materials, and supervising safe, compliant disposal or recycling operations.
Key Responsibilities
*Product Returns Handling & Audit:* Receive, count, and log damaged, defective, transit-affected, or expired goods returned from distributors and regional depots; verify quantities against official return advisories and credit notes.
*Return Sorting & Segregation:* Classify returned stock into recyclable packaging, salvageable goods, secondary processing materials, or absolute organic waste in coordination with Factory Quality Assurance (QA).
*Factory Waste & Scrap Collection:* Oversee daily sorting and handling of plant production waste, raw material bags, corrugated cartons, flexible packaging scrap, and general factory floor refuse.
*Scrap Inventory & Vendor Coordination:* Weigh, log, and store recyclable materials and scrap products; coordinate with authorized local recycling vendors and buyers for scheduled disposal and sale.
* *Sanitation & Environmental Compliance:* Ensure all waste handling and product disposal adhere to corporate hygiene policies, local municipal guidelines, Department of Environment (DoE) standards, and food safety practices.
*Reporting & Record Keeping:* Maintain daily ledger entries for return inventories, damage write-offs, and scrap sales; submit weekly summaries to the Factory Operations, QA, and Accounts teams.
*Supervision & Safety:* Direct and supervise floor workers and cleaning staff, enforcing the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining hygienic working conditions.
