Job Context:
∎ Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is a national and non-profit development organization operating in Bangladesh since 1967. It has its Central Office in Dhaka and eight Regional Offices in Barisal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Sylhet. CB is implementing 87 on-going projects covering 209 upazila focusing on six main priorities i.e i) Social Welfare and Community Development, ii) Quality Education, iii) Health Care and Education, iv) Disaster Management, v) Ecological Conservation and Development and vi) Development of Indigenous Peoples.
∎ Caritas Bangladesh is inviting applications from eligible candidates (men and women) to fill up a following position for its Development Food Assistance (DFAP)/Sustainable Agriculture and Production Linked to Improved Nutrition Status, Resilience and Gender Equity (SAPLING) Project.
∎ SAPLING Project is being implemented in consortium with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Helen Keller International- Bangladesh (HKI) and funded by the USAID. The position is based at SAPLING Upazila Office, Bandarban Sadar Upazila, Bandarban Hill District under Caritas Chattogram Region. The details of the position are given as below:
∎ Role & Job Summary: The upazila accountant will be responsible for financial management of the SAAPLING project at Upazila level. S/He will work closely with Account Officer to ensure compliance with the financial and operations related policies and procedures of the organization and also the USAID regulations, as stipulated in the project agreement. S/He will prepare call forward requests, financial reports and expenditure analysis on periodic basis and share the same with the Account Officer.
∎ Duration: Short-term period (December 19 to June, 2020)
∎ Job Nature : Temporary
∎ Job Location: SAPLING Upazila Office, Bandarban Sadar Upazila, Bandarban Hill District.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Lead Upazila level finance & admin related processes.
∎ Work directly under Accounts Officer in coordination with Upazila Coordinator and other partners to support project upzila and field team to follow all applicable policies, procedure and regulations of the Caritas and as stipulated in the project agreement.
∎ Liaise closely with Caritas and other partners in implementing accounts and financial systems and processes.
∎ Maintain books of accounts and lead accounts and record keeping at upzila level.
∎ Document and preserve all the valuable and necessary documents of the project at upzila level.
∎ Be always prepared to face internal and external audit by up-dating information (accounting) and book keeping, as per accepted principals of Project Memorandum, agreement and rules of Caritas Bangladesh
∎ Maintain inventory at the upzila office.
∎
∎ Prepare monthly and periodical financial statements, fund requisition and check correspondence with the respective banks.
∎ Prepare Budget Monitoring Review and Analysis report to assess the burn rate and share it with the Finance manager and Upazila coordinator.
∎ Ensure the budgetary control. Remind the concerned project personnel to keep the expenditure within the budget limit.
∎ Assist and cooperate with team in other project activities.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 3 years working experience in the similar role in any reputed organizations. Working with USAID funded project will be given preference.
∎ Working experience in CHT especially at Bandarban Hill District will be an advantage.
∎ Experience of working as an accountant in the large scale project.
∎ Computer and internet skills are required.
∎ Strong skills in financial, personnel and process management.
∎ Should be self-driven and positive to work in a team.
∎ Personal qualities: Self-starter, Committed.
Salary:
∎ 25,000.00-30,000.00 BDT per month (Negotiable).
