Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Serve as the officer in charge of all fire and rescue operations for the assigned shift.
∎ Act as Incident Commander during emergencies, develop and implement incident action plans until command is formally transferred.
∎ Direct and deploy subordinate firemen to appropriate assignments, ensuring that emergency plans are executed safely and efficiently.
∎ Report to the Fire Safety Manager and advise on fire prevention, suppression, and rescue operations. Provide recommendations using sound judgment, initiative, and professional expertise.
∎ Maintain comprehensive and updated evacuation plans to ensure safe evacuation of occupants in case of fire.
∎ Ensure all fire safety systems and equipment within the facility are always functional and maintained in compliance with NFPA, BNBC, ACCORD, and ALLIANCE standards.
∎ Conduct regular fire risk assessments across the facility and implement corrective actions in consultation with relevant authorities and under the guidance of the Fire Safety Manager.
∎ Enforce safety protocols (including PPE usage) before allowing any hot work (such as welding/cutting) within the premises.
∎ Periodically visit these sites to identify and address unsafe conditions.
∎ Organize and conduct regular fire safety drills and training sessions for all employees and fire team members, in line with FSCD, BGMEA, buyer, ACCORD, and ALLIANCE requirements.
∎ Ensure proper installation, functionality, and routine inspection of all fire detection and protection systems, such as smoke detectors, fire alarms, hydrants, and sprinklers, maintaining accurate records.
∎ Maintain strong coordination and liaison with external agencies like the Fire Service & Civil Defence (FSCD) to ensure an effective emergency response plan.
∎ Organize routine fire safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure protection of life and property.
∎ Investigate incidents and enforce appropriate disciplinary measures for violations, as per company policy and under the supervision of the Fire Safety Manager.
∎ Prepare and maintain all fire safety documentation and records as per buyer, auditor, and compliance requirements.
∎ Enforce a strict ‘No Smoking’ policy within the factory and premises in coordination with Administration and Security departments.
∎ Maintain and monitor the duty roster of all fire personnel, verifying attendance and task assignments.
∎ Ensure proper receipt, storage, maintenance, and utilization of all fire safety equipment and accessories.
∎ Carry out any other tasks assigned by Management or the Fire Safety Manager as required.
