Responsibilities & Context:

1. Fire Safety Management & Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with Bangladesh Labour Law, BNBC, RSC/Accord standards

• Develop and implement Fire Safety Management Plan

• Coordinate with compliance/audit teams (RSC, buyer audit, etc.)

• Ensure factory meets all fire safety requirements before audits

• Maintain valid Fire License / NOC and related documents

📌 Fact: Bangladesh law requires proper escape routes, fire equipment, and worker training for emergencies

2. Fire Prevention & Risk Assessment

• Identify fire hazards and conduct regular risk assessments

• Implement preventive measures to reduce fire risk

• Monitor storage of flammable materials

• Ensure proper housekeeping (lint, dust, chemicals control)

3. Inspection & Maintenance of Fire Equipment

• Ensure proper functioning of:

  • Fire extinguishers

  • Fire hydrant system

  • Sprinkler system

  • Fire alarm & detection system

• Schedule and monitor routine testing & maintenance

• Keep records of all inspections

📌 Regular inspection and testing of fire protection equipment is mandatory

4. Fire Drill & Emergency Preparedness

• Conduct regular fire drills (at least yearly / quarterly)

• Develop and update Evacuation Plan & Floor Layout

• Ensure all employees know:

  • Emergency exits

  • Assembly points

  • Evacuation procedures

• Evaluate drill performance and take corrective actions

5. Training & Awareness

• Provide fire safety training to:

  • Workers

  • Fire team members

  • Security personnel

• Arrange:

  • Fire extinguisher training

  • Emergency response training

• Create awareness through posters, signage, campaigns

6. Emergency Response & Incident Handling

• Lead fire emergency response team

• Coordinate with Fire Service & Civil Defense

• Take immediate action during fire incidents

• Ensure safe evacuation of all employees

• Prepare incident reports and root cause analysis

7. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain records of:

  • Fire drills

  • Training sessions

  • Equipment inspection

  • Incident/accident reports

• Prepare reports for:

  • Management

  • Buyers

  • Auditors

• Keep updated SOPs, policies, and logs

8. Workplace Safety Monitoring

• Ensure:

  • Emergency exits are always open & unobstructed

  • Proper exit signage & emergency lighting

  • Electrical safety compliance

• Monitor unsafe acts and conditions

• Implement corrective actions

9. Coordination & Team Management

• Lead Fire & Safety team / Fire fighters

• Coordinate with:

  • Maintenance

  • HR/Admin

  • Production

• Support safety committee activities

10. Continuous Improvement

• Identify gaps from audits and inspections

• Implement Corrective Action Plan (CAP)

• Ensure ongoing improvement of fire safety system
