Responsibilities & Context: Job Purpose: Lead the apparel maintenance function to ensure high availability, reliability and safe operation of production machinery, utilities and related engineering assets. The position will establish preventive and predictive maintenance systems, control breakdowns and maintenance costs, and coordinate with production and technical teams to minimize downtime and protect production continuity. Key Responsibilities: Lead overall maintenance activities for apparel production machinery, equipment and related engineering systems. Develop and implement preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance plans with clear schedules and accountability. Monitor machine breakdowns, downtime, MTBF/MTTR and maintenance response; drive root-cause analysis and permanent corrective action. Ensure availability and reliability of sewing, cutting, finishing and other apparel production equipment and associated systems. Plan maintenance manpower, shift coverage, spare parts, tools and technical resources according to production requirements. Coordinate closely with Production, IE, Quality, Utility, PPC and other departments to prioritize maintenance activities without disrupting shipment plans. Establish proper maintenance records, machine history, checklists, work orders and preventive-maintenance documentation. Control maintenance costs through effective spare-parts planning, vendor management, repair-versus-replacement decisions and energy-conscious practices. Evaluate equipment performance and recommend machine upgrades, replacement, automation or process improvements where commercially justified. Supervise installation, commissioning, relocation and modification of machines and equipment. Ensure maintenance activities comply with factory safety requirements, statutory requirements, manufacturer recommendations and applicable buyer/compliance expectations. Lead and develop maintenance engineers, technicians and support staff through training, performance management and technical coaching. Coordinate with suppliers and service providers for technical support, warranty, spare parts and specialized repairs. Prepare management reports on breakdowns, downtime, maintenance cost, machine availability and improvement initiatives. Candidate Profile / Requirements: Minimum 10–12 years of relevant experience in apparel/RMG factory maintenance or industrial engineering maintenance; level will be matched to experience and leadership exposure. Mandatory Mechanical Engineering graduation (B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering). Strong practical knowledge of apparel machinery, including sewing and other garment-production equipment, pneumatic/mechanical systems and related workshop practices. Strong knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance, breakdown analysis, spare-parts management and maintenance planning. Experience managing a sizable technical team and multiple production-floor priorities. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, decision-making and leadership skills. Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to critical breakdowns and production emergencies. Knowledge of maintenance software/ERP, MS Excel and engineering reporting systems is preferred. Experience in a 100% export-oriented RMG/composite factory and exposure to international buyer/compliance requirements will be an advantage.
