Job Context:
∎ HI has been working in Bangladesh since 1997, with a focus on creating sustainable changes in terms of ensuring the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. HI is an independent and impartial aid organization working in situations of poverty, exclusion, conflict, and disaster throughout Bangladesh. With projects in different districts of the country, HI works not only with people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations, but also with their families, their communities, and local humanitarian actors in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions, promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights, and provide sustainability in its action. As one of the key organizations in the disability sector, HI has a wide range of projects which assist to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities and their issues in emergency and development contexts, building capacities of local stakeholders, and reducing the impact of natural and human-made disasters. Particularly in Cox`s Bazar district, HI is providing services in rehabilitation, MH/PSS, SRH, protection and inclusive education with an inclusion mainstreaming approach to refugees and host population affected by the forcibly displaced undocumented Myanmar nationals. HI`s multi-sectoral mobile units (MU) and static approach are currently working in 15 camps located in both Teknaf and Ukhiya Upazilas and surrounding host areas providing comprehensive services in physical rehabilitation, primary health care, protection, and MH/PSS.
∎ HI is currently implementing development and humanitarian response project in Kurigram, Sitakindu, and Cox`s Bazar district through 4 project offices (Kurigram, Sitakundu, Ukhiya, and Teknaf) and 2 coordination offices( Dhaka and Cox Bazar).
∎ Operational Thematic: Livelihood, Health and Rehabilitation, Protection, Inclusion, Education and Atlas Logistic
∎ Number of staff: Around 283 National staff and 10 international staff
∎ HI is currently looking for a Senior Communication Officer who will report to the Country Director, the Senior Communication Officer`s concerns leading the development and implementation of communication and outreach strategy aligned with HI`s global communication strategy.
∎ She/he leads and supports the internal communication process and works closely with HI global communication team at the headquarters to socialize and position the work of the mission at the global level.
∎ Job Location: Dhaka
∎ Report to: Country Director
∎ Contract Length: 12 Months contract from the date of joining.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ 1. Strategy
∎ Planning and implementation of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach
∎ Assess communication needs and priorities for the mission.
∎ Refine and adapt HI BGD's communication and outreach strategy based on HI's global communication strategy.
∎ 2. Expertise
∎ 2.1. Develop communication materials in a way that increases understanding of disability, visibility of HR works, and funding opportunities for HI.
∎ The support project team for the development of their branding and marketing plan as per donor requirements
∎ Support projects in developing project-specific communication plans.
∎ Develop and update HI brochures that effectively disseminate its work in mission and globally.
∎ Be updated on donor's visibility and communication requirements and support project teams to develop communication materials proposed in the project such as leaflets, banners, information & educational and behavior change communication materials (fact sheets, project briefs), promotional materials, impact documents, case studies, and good practices
∎ Responsible for publication of a variety of communications and other documents including materials for websites.
∎ Monitor media in issues that interest and affect HI in the country and communicate relevant information to the team.
∎ Proactively develop materials for social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
∎ Design and develop the layout for HI BGD's semi-annual and annual reports to be submitted to the donor, government
∎ 2.2. Develop and submit communication and information materials to be shared with HI. Headquarter.
∎ Coordinate with Headquarter to develop new sponsorship letters and quarterly newsletters;
∎ Work with project teams and HI Headquarters communication team to develop monthly newsletters including case studies
∎ 2.3. Strengthen media engagement in HI actions and effective handling of HI BGD's social media
∎ Manage HI BGD's Social Media (including Twitter account)
∎ Strengthen media engagement- in the country and at the global level (with support from national associations and headquarters) to showcase the organization's achievements
∎ Capacity building of HI's local partner's staff on communication and social media guidelines, story documentations.
∎ 2.4. Develop communication guidelines and a communication plan
∎ Review existing communication guidelines and continuously update this guideline
∎ Develop an annual communication plan and communication calendar for HI-BGD in collaboration with the project teams
∎ Induct staff on communication guidelines
∎ Support project team and logistics to plan productions of HI BGD's communication and outreach materials and develop a consolidated plan at the organizational level
∎ Monitor the progress of the implementation of the guideline and plan and take initiatives to ensure guidelines and plans are
∎ 3. Influence
∎ 3.1. Representation of HI in external communication forums and media
∎ Participate in communication-related platforms such as Communication Working Group in the country, etc
∎ Effective management of project's public events (for example review and reflections, launching, etc.)- share the events with HI's internal networks like HInside and externally on Twitter and with the donors
∎ Establish robust media network; coordinate the visits of international media when such events arise and organize media related events when they are required
∎ Maintain general public relations and act as an information officer for HI BGD.
∎ 3.2. Support to foster a learning environment
∎ Disseminate information and publications that have an impact on learning to the team
∎ Facilitate to organize Learning and Sharing sessions regularly for Bangladesh to discuss an interesting topic for team members
∎ Participate in various knowledge dissemination events and share the relevant information with the team

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 25 years

∎ Minimum of 04 years experience in communication in the development sector with at least 02 years of experience in developing and designing communication strategies and organization representation
