Job Context:
∎ BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) at Brac University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, seeks a Research Fellow for leading the development of its new Environment and Climate Change focused research initiative. We are looking for a promising early-career researcher with a strong interest in economic and broader social science research on environmental and climate change issues in Bangladesh.
∎ Location: BIGD, Mohakhali, Dhaka
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Research Agenda Development - In collaboration with other researchers, universities, implementing partners and policy makers active in the field of environment and climate change, develop a research agenda. Possible areas of research interest are both macro (Green growth, Green Finance, Green Jobs and Environmental regulations) and micro (distributional impacts of various climate change policies within mitigation and livelihood adaptations).
∎ Fund mobilization - Proactively engage with implementation partners - multilateral organizations to write proposals and mobilize funds for new projects under the Environment and Climate Change initiative.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Ability and commitment to multidisciplinary research in the area.
∎ Demonstrated capacity to work with implementing partners and academic leads to set up, support, and analyse rigorous research studies, particularly randomized evaluations
∎ Ecosystem service mapping, climate modelling skills.
∎ Excellent ability to understand and communicate rigorous research to policy makers and practitioners
∎ Exceptional communication skills, including speaking and writing effectively in English, both academic and popular
