∎ A minimum of 2 years of experience in research and documentation with a strong background in environmental projects and social risk assessments in the World Bank or similar international development projects are highly desirable.
∎ Must be willing to travel extensively all over Bangladesh
∎ Conducting one-to-one interview, focus group discussion, etc.
∎ Skills in capturing photographs and video clips.
∎ Experience in developing field notes, reports, case studies.
∎ Experience in searching funding opportunity.
∎ Experience in developing technical and financial proposal in coordination with team.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Bangladesh Petrochemical Company Limited (BPCL) is looking for a Research and Documentation Officer to lead the World Bank-funded Plastic Waste Management & Recycling Project.

∎ BPCL has pioneered the concept of creating worth out of waste in Bangladesh being the first and only post-consumer food-grade PET bottle-to-bottle recycling plant in the nation. BPCL was incorporated in 2011 and started its commercial operation in July 2016. Till date, BPCL has contributed to recycling over 1,800,000,000 (180 crore) used PET bottles, preventing them from getting dumped into the ground/river/drain, reducing 25,000 tons of Green House Gas emissions. BPCL’s bottle collection supply chain has provided an income to 35,000 waste pickers by procuring BDT 1 billion (100 crore) worth of discarded PET bottles.

∎ Project Overview: The primary objective of the project is to formalize the Plastic Recycling Value Chain to ensure the steady collection of recyclable plastic (RP) removing them from environment by establishing "collection hubs" or recycling business units (RBUs) across Bangladesh. These RBUs will facilitate the transportation, storage, and processing of plastic waste.

∎ The Project is co-funded by the World Bank and Parley for the Oceans and implemented by the South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme (SACEP), supported by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
∎ Regular visits to RBUs and collect data through one-to-one interview, focus group discussion, participatory assessment tools and techniques, observation etc.
∎ Developing case stories.
∎ Capturing photographs and video clips.
∎ Searching funding opportunities by browsing relevant websites, newspapers and other options.
∎ Developing Proposals according to the Terms of Reference.
∎ Coordinating the technical and financial proposal submission process
