Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Economics, or related field.
- 7–10 years of experience in shipping, freight forwarding, port operations, or project cargo handling.
- Proven experience in business development, client acquisition, and managing a stand-alone branch or regional operation.
- Strong understanding of port rules, customs procedures, customs clearance, chartering, project cargo handling, and vessel operations.
- Solid knowledge of sustainability trends in the maritime sector, including EV transition, renewable energy cargo, and green logistics.
- Excellent communication skills in English and strong ability to interact independently with foreign principals.
- Strong networking skills, proactive mindset, and entrepreneurial drive.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, costing, and modelling.
- Tech-savvy, innovative, and comfortable using digital tools for operations and reporting.
**Operational Leadership
- Oversee end-to-end Freight Forwarding operations, including IGM filing, liaison with agents, carriers, port officials, and foreign principals.
- Manage all port and customs-related formalities including vessel inward/outward documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Handle crew sign-on/off procedures and maintain communication with maritime authorities.
- Supervise chartered vessels, imported cargo, and ensure adherence to all protocols within Chittagong Port territory.
- Manage project cargo, heavy-lift cargo, and general cargo operations safely and efficiently.
- Ensure proper documentation, timely reporting, and digital record management.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate with port, shipping, customs, and marine stakeholders.
**Business Development & Procurement
- Act as the profit-center head, responsible for achieving business growth targets and expanding the branch’s revenue pipeline.
- Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new clients across shipping, project cargo, logistics, and chartering segments.
- Establish and maintain a strong professional network with key stakeholders in the maritime, logistics, and industrial sectors.
- Lead all business procurement activities, including negotiation, tender preparation, pricing, and contract acquisition.
- Explore and capitalize on green business opportunities such as renewable energy supply chains, EV-related cargo, green logistics, and decarbonization initiatives.
- Represent the company in industry forums, port meetings, and client discussions to strengthen brand presence.
**Financial Management & Strategic Planning
- Prepare branch budgets, operational forecasts, and financial plans.
- Conduct financial modelling, costing, and profitability analysis for new projects and business opportunities.
- Monitor expenditure and ensure cost efficiency across operations.
- Provide periodic financial and performance reports to senior management.
**Technology & Innovation
- Promote the use of digital tools, shipping apps, cargo-tracking systems, and workflow automation.
- Implement innovative solutions to reduce manual tasks and enhance productivity.
- Ensure the branch adopts modern, tech-driven approaches to shipping and logistics operations.
