Job Context:
∎ Duration of the contract: December 2023(next extension depend on Funding availability).
∎ Reporting to: Senior Programme Officer.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The selected candidate for the position of Project Officer (PO) will be responsible for providing technical and cyclone preparedness interventions implementation support to Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP) under the 'Comprehensive Disaster Readiness, Emergency Preparedness and Community Resilience Building in Cox's Bazar. S/he will be responsible to carry out following responsibilities but not limiting to the followings only:
∎ Program Design and Implementation Support:
∎ Assist BDRCS and CPP in developing Plan of Action (PoA) incorporating activities of cyclone preparedness and wider disaster risk reduction for camps and host areas of Cox's bazar.
∎ Provide support to BDRCS DRR team in developing module, schedule to carry out multi-hazard training for stakeholders, lead DRR agencies and Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP) volunteers.
∎ Engage with BDRCS DRR team to plan and implement the Disaster Preparedness, First Aid and Search & Rescue training for the volunteers and staff with a provision to facilitate the above-mentioned trainings where necessary in camps and host areas under Cox's Bazar.
∎ Extend support to BDRCS DRR team to plan and conduct the Enhanced Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (EVCA), DRR CASH Intervention, Cash for Work/Cash for Training in camps and host areas.
∎ Work with BDRCS DRR team to undertake stakeholder mapping at camps and host to identify agencies/partners/sectors where BDRCS can exchange expertise as collaboration is much needed in achieving collective accomplishment.
∎ Engage in orienting the Standing Order on Disaster (SoD), and guideline of Disaster Management Committee (DMC) for the camps and host community stakeholders as per the project plan.
∎ Conduct regular field visit for ensuring effective implementation of Disaster Preparedness Program activities through coordination, collaboration, and integration.
∎ Provide support to form/reactivate local level Disaster Management Committees and involve in capacity strengthening of these committees for effective disaster preparedness and response.
∎ Support to develop monthly and quarterly reporting along with capturing key lesson learnt for the DRR program.
∎ Provide support to MEL/PMER team in conducting micro level study, assessment/research to contribute to future programming.
∎ Communication and Coordination:
∎ Coordination will be one of the key elements that is integrated to this job responsibilities to position BDRCS and IFRC where needed.
∎ Representation at camps and Union based DMC meetings will be another highly expected coordination support from these positions, so that BDRCS/IFRC ensure their involvement in DRM coordination.
∎ Coordinate with the Government counterpart and various stakeholders for effective coordination and policy dialogue for mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction interventions.
∎ Monitoring, Reporting, Documentation, and Information Management:
∎ Maintain close coordination with IM and Reporting Officer to comply with reporting and documentation needs along with ensuring appropriate flow of Programme data for meeting up MEL/IM data needs.
∎ Support to Communication colleagues of IFRC/BDRCS in developing content, branding materials for fundraising and meeting up donor compliances.
∎ Maintain close communication with MEL/PMER colleagues to ensure effective execution of monitoring checklists, quality checklists for quality programming.
∎ Qualification:

Additional Requirements:
∎ Candidates having 3 years of experience in the field of Disaster Risk Management/Disaster Risk Reduction in camps and host areas of Cox's Bazar is highly preferred.
∎ Understanding on DRR Projects Management Cycle in Bangladesh
∎ Working experience at coastal district/island areas.
∎ Strong Coordination and Communication skill
∎ Understanding on local dialect/Chittagonian dialect is preferable.
∎ Training Facilitation/Module Development is preferable.
∎ Understanding on RCRC Code of Conduct, Core humanitarian principles is preferable.
∎ Languages: Fluency in English and Bangla.
