Education:
    • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)
  • Bachelor’s degree in dental surgery (BDS) or equivalent.

  • Valid professional license to practice dentistry in Bangladesh.

  • Certification in infection prevention and control (IPC) is an advantage.

EXPIRIENCE: • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in dental practice.

• Experience in primary healthcare centers or humanitarian settings is preferred.

• Ability to perform basic and emergency dental procedures.

• Good communication and patient counseling skills.

• Knowledge of infection prevention and sterilization protocols.

• Ability to work under pressure in resource-limited settings.

Reporting To: Hierarchical: Project Officer - Relief Coordination (Anas Abulaban)

Functional: Cox’s bazar project officer (Hamidul Islam)

JOB SUMMARY: The Project Officer (Dentist) is responsible for providing comprehensive oral healthcare services to patients within the primary healthcare or mobile clinic setting. The role includes diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of oral diseases, as well as promoting oral health awareness in the community. The Project Officer (Dentist) ensures high-quality, patient-centered care in line with clinical protocols and humanitarian standards, contributing to improved overall health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Objective 1: Provide quality dental care and treatment services.

• Conduct dental examinations and diagnose oral health conditions.

• Perform dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, scaling, and minor surgeries.

• Manage dental emergencies, including pain, infections, and trauma cases.

• Prescribe medications as required and in accordance with national guidelines.

Objective 2: Promote oral health prevention and patient education.

• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and disease prevention.

• Provide guidance on proper brushing techniques and diet-related oral health.

• Conduct awareness sessions on oral health within the facility or community.

• Encourage regular check-ups and early treatment-seeking behaviour.

Objective 3: Ensure infection prevention and clinical safety standards.

• Follow strict infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols.

• Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and safe disposal of medical waste.

• Maintain a clean and safe dental working environment.

• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately at all times.

Objective 4: Maintain accurate patient records and reporting.

• Record patient history, diagnosis, and treatment in standardized formats.

• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.

• Prepare regular reports on dental activities and services provided.

• Support data collection for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

Objective 5: Support integration with primary healthcare services.

• Coordinate with medical staff for referrals and integrated patient care.

• Refer complex cases to specialized facilities when needed.

• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions when required.

• Support outreach or mobile clinic activities when assigned.

Objective 6: Support emergency response and outreach activities.

• Provide dental care during emergency health campaigns or mobile clinics.

• Participate in public health initiatives within the camp setting.

• Adapt services to emergency and high-demand situations.

• Support rapid response during disease outbreaks or crises.

Objective 7: To ensure employees adhere to ethical standards, organizational policies, and legal requirements while maintaining integrity and professional conduct at all times.

Objective 8: Ensure the implementation of Qatar Charity’s safeguarding standards, including PSEA and GBV prevention, across all project activities to maintain a safe and accountable environment.

• Implement and monitor safeguarding measures, ensuring compliance with Qatar Charity’s PSEA and GBV policies throughout the project lifecycle.

• Abide by QC’s Child Protection and Safeguarding related policies to keep children and young people safe and to respond to concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing.

• Establish and maintain confidential, accessible reporting channels for safeguarding concerns and ensure timely response and escalation.

• Collaborate with HR and relevant departments to integrate safeguarding into field activities.

Ensure risk assessments include safeguarding considerations and mitigation strategies for all project activities.
