Job Context:
∎ GAC (Skill Development Project)
∎ We are implementing a multi-year skills development project as part of a joint Initiative of a consortium in the refugee camps of Cox`s Bazar. The project has a target to reach a total of 2,000 participants (50 percent women) for vocational skills training which will be selected across the camps considering the suitability, capacity and availability of home/community facilities for training. The target of 2,000 has been selected according to the prequalification requirement for the vocational training.
∎ The Project ultimately aims to assist refugees to acquire transferable and portable skills relevant to the labour market needs in Myanmar and the camp contexts, that would support sustainable return and integration (in Myanmar) when conditions permit; while enabling refugees to maintain hope for the future and have dignified and productive lives in the camps, including through engagement in multi-sectorial camp-based activities, minor livelihood activities, and community works, with the utilisation of acquired competencies. Accordingly, strategies will be geared towards enhancing skills development, economic and social empowerment, self-reliance of the Rohingya refugees pending durable solutions.
∎ The duration of the contract will be until December 31, 2022.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develop creative products considering the artisanal skills in the camps
∎ Generate and evaluate new product ideas and concepts and identify new opportunities and formulate product concepts
∎ Identify and implement design improvements (functionality, cost, and design for manufacture)
∎ Analysing sketches and samples, understanding consumer requirements and develop
∎ Liaise closely with all departments to fully understand design product requirements
∎ Liaise with external suppliers and project team for sourcing raw materials
∎ Provide support to production team to improve lead times
∎ Provide technical support during the sample process from sketch development to final approval for the products.
∎ Submitting proposals and sample designs for evaluation by the project management team before moving to the final production/manufacturing
∎ Modify and revise existing designs to meet changing customer/consumer preferences
∎ Collaborate with Marketing and Sales Teams in monitoring product performance from the launch stage and initiate appropriate solutions in case of product rollout problems
∎ Review all samples thoroughly and ensure all comment instructions followed prior to dispatch samples
∎ Maintain strong relationship with the team members
∎ Any other duties assigned by the Project Management Unit
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 45 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Minimum 03 years of professional experience in textile/jute/craft product design.
∎ Demonstrated experience in contemporary creative product design
∎ Experience in product development under limited market opportunity
∎ Experience in artisanal product design considering Rohingya cultural background
∎ Knowledge of value chain development of jute-based products
∎ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
∎ Willingness and ability to work in hardship environments
∎ Excellent teamwork, and a proven track record of building trust within and empowering teams
∎ Able to find innovation in product development
∎ Research & Development of seasonal themes and inspirations.

∎ Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and reporting skills in English and effective interpersonal and negotiation skills, proven through successful interactions with all levels of stakeholder groups.
