Responsibilities & Context:
Prepare for pattern making based on the tech pack
Use tools and materials to create patterns on a non-textile surface, such as hard paper board
Ensure the pattern is accurate
Keep the work area, tools, and equipment in good condition
Use basic tools to measure, mark, and cut patterns
Make and fit sample garments to test the patterns
Examine sketches and design specifications to determine the quantities, shapes, and sizes of pattern parts
Determine the best layout of pattern pieces to minimize waste
Create design specifications to provide instructions on sewing and assembly
Pattern masters may also work with computer software to design, input data, and manage approvals
