Job Context
Based on application for the position advertised and the decision of the Project Steering Committee, the selected candidate will be appointed as a Nurse for the “Compassionate Narayanganj” Project under the Department of Palliative Medicine, Bangladesh Medical University.
The appointment will be on a contractual basis. The initial three (3) months of employment will be considered as a probation period. Upon satisfactory performance during this period, the appointment will be confirmed.
The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly salary as per project policy, inclusive of all allowances. No additional financial benefits will be provided beyond the approved project remuneration.
The Nurse will be expected to work 6 days per week. Weekly holidays will be observed on Fridays, along with government holidays. The candidate will be entitled to 20 casual leave per year.
The appointment will remain valid for the duration of the project. Continuation of employment will be subject to satisfactory performance, availability of project funding, and continuation of project activities. The project authority reserves the right to terminate the contract earlier in case of unsatisfactory performance, misconduct, violation of organizational rules, or discontinuation of project funding.
The employee may resign from the position by providing written notice in advance for 2 months.
The selected candidate will be expected to follow all rules, regulations, and professional standards of the Department of Palliative Medicine, Bangladesh Medical University, and the project donor requirements.
Job Responsibilities
Provide community-based palliative nursing care through home visits
Assess patients’ physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs
Administer medications and monitor symptom management (pain, breathlessness, nausea, etc.)
Perform basic nursing procedures such as wound care, catheter care, and feeding support
Provide basic emotional and psychosocial support to patients and family members
Educate family caregivers on home-based patient care
Provide mentoring and supportive supervision to Palliative Care Assistants (PCAs)
Maintain proper documentation and patient records
Coordinate with doctors, palliative care assistants, and community volunteers
Identify patients requiring urgent medical attention and facilitate referral
Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and training sessions
Support end-of-life care and bereavement support for families
Assist in community awareness and outreach activities
Assist in data collection for monitoring and evaluation
