Educational Requirements:
∎ Graduation / Post Graduate degree in any discipline from a reputed University.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Design innovative and unique solutions to optimize routine news coverage for online news portal.
∎ Prepare work schedules and deadlines and encourage team members to meet targets to facilitate timely news publication on the online news portal.
∎ Design and implement coverage strategies to facilitate wide coverage of all sorts of agendas and news.
∎ Provide training to news reporters on how to select news for existing viewers /readers and gain new viewers/readers for the online news portal.
∎ Coordinate with colleagues in the newsroom and other departments to define priorities for the news.
∎ Making final decisions about which stories, articles, and photographs to publish.
∎ Approving the publication's layout, design, style, and tone.
∎ Reviewing written content where needed, including any suggestions for edits.
∎ Writing editorial pieces to contribute to the news.
∎ Developing and managing budgets for the editorial team.
∎ Representing the publication's editorial team at social functions.
∎ Hiring and developing writers, junior editors, and senior editors.
∎ Attending meetings with the board to discuss issues and plans for the news.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 5 Years in Online News Portal; Experience in TV channels or other media organizations will be an added.
∎ The incumbent should be passionate about writing and be able to motivate a team. Typically, the employee will need to have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism or English, as well as previous experience and the following abilities:
∎ Writing skills - Ensure that all written content is accurate, has good grammar and syntax.
∎ Creativity - Be creative and passionate about finding new ways to expand the brand's content.
∎ Interpersonal skills - Work closely with all departments and writers, guiding them in their work.
∎ Attention to detail - Able to identify mistakes and errors, ensuring that the writing style represents the brand.
∎ Sound Judgement - Decide if the stories are ethical and if there is enough supporting evidence for the stories to be showcased.
