Major Job Responsibility:

Medical Officer will provide clinical consultations, treatment, and follow-up care for program participants, including high-risk pregnant mothers and post-natal cases, with readiness for home visits. Responsibilities include conducting pathological tests, coordinating referrals with empaneled hospitals, and supporting community health workers (Shasthyo Bandhus). The role also involves maintaining medical records, contributing to health education initiatives, collaborating with program teams, and ensuring strict adherence to safeguarding policies.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

• Carry out medical examinations, treatment, and consultations of program participants.

• Evaluate patients and provide appropriate medical treatment for various illnesses and injuries. The candidate must be willing to travel to nearby program sites and conduct house visits, if required.

• Order and carry out appropriate pathological tests.

• Co-ordinate appropriate follow-up care for patient following initial medical examination.

• Make referrals to empaneled hospitals and maintain regular communication with those hospitals.

• Provide training and support to the SAJIDA Shasthyo Bandhus (community health workers) who are primarily responsible for connecting participants to program’s health interventions (as and when required).

• Liaise with other program’s streams and operations teams.

• Follow-up of high-risk pregnant mothers, newborns, post-natal mothers, and other referred cases. The candidate must be open to making house visits for following up with pregnant mothers, if required.

• Contribute to the development of health information resource, culturally appropriate clinical services and related health and well-being events.

• Make referrals to empaneled hospitals and maintain regular communication with those hospitals.

• Keep up to date with respect to developments within occupational health, elderly medicine, and other specialties relevant to the medical work.

• Document all patient evaluations, treatments, medications, and transactions according to company policies and procedures.

• Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
