Other Qualification and Experiences

• Minimum 10-12 years’ work experience in the related fields with international/national development organization.

• Sound knowledge and working experiences in the areas of governance, democracy, local government, human rights.

• Good connection with political leaders/activists and members of civil society both national and local level.

• Expert level competency with Microsoft word, Excel, Power point, Outlook

• A socially active person who has good networking skills.

• Good analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills.

• Sets high standards for quality of work and consistently achieves targets

• Ability to work effectively in groups and independently; demonstrated initiative and creativity when solving problems.

• Ability to effectively present different types of report for a diverse range of audiences both in English and Bangla.

• SHUJAN-Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Citizen for Good Governance) was formed in 2002 as an initiative of a group of concerned citizens of Bangladesh with the purpose of promoting democracy, decentralization, electoral reforms, clean politics and accountable governance. As a non-partisan pressure group, it provides an effective platform for people to discover their voices and be heard. SHUJAN has already achieved solid successes in its priority areas.

• Since its inception, SHUJAN has mobilized thousands of citizens from all walks of life - citizens who are disenchanted with the present state of Bangladesh`s politics and governance. ln the process, it has become a large, decentralized network of committed individuals from the capital city down to the villages. it is a volunteer-based movement in which citizens themselves invest both their time and money to carry forward its work.

Position Summery

• This is a senior management position. Under the guidance of the Shujan Secretary/CEO, this position will be responsible for developing strategy, design and planning for Promote good governance, strengthening democracy, Ensuring human rights, free and fair elections.

Principal responsibility of this position is:

• Developing strategy, design and planning for Promote good governance, strengthening democracy, ensuring human rights, free and fair elections.

• Provide secretarial support to the Citizens for Good Governance (SHUJAN).

• Arrange/support round-table discussion meetings, seminars, workshops on social, election related issues in Dhaka and districts to create public opinion.

• Communicate and mobilize the distinguished people, institutes, and pursue them to raise their voice for accountability, transparency, fairness, and justice in all public and private sectors to ensure efficient operations and service delivery.

• Advocacy with policy makers and government officials to ensure accountability, transparency, fairness, and justice in all public sectors.

• Assist in collecting antecedents of the candidates, prepare comparative statements and disseminate among voters.

• Develop strategy to run campaigns in print, electronic and social media promoting good governance, for free and fair elections, human rights and democracy, justice.

• Educate the voters, especially first-time voters, through arranging democracy/election Olympiad and through social media. Support for formation/reformation of the committees of Shujan at different levels and tracking the committees with update database.

• Arrange motivational and leadership development training, workshops for the Shujan volunteers and develop training and workshop madule.

• Educate and empower the voters through providing antecedents of the contesting candidates in the elections so that voters can elect their right representatives in the parliament as well as local ministration level

• Develop keynote paper for press conference, roundtable, seminar.

• Any other task assigned by management from time to time.
