Experience:

• 8 to 10 years

• Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSc in Nursing) or Diploma in Nursing with extensive OT experience. OR Diploma / Bachelor degree in Operation Theatre Technology with strong managerial experience.

• 8 to 10 years

• Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in OT, including 5–7 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
• Strong understanding of surgical procedures, OT protocols, and sterile techniques.

A. OT Operations Management

• Oversee day-to-day operations of all Operation Theatres.

• Prepare and monitor OT schedules in coordination with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing teams.

• Ensure timely start and completion of surgeries to maximize OT efficiency.

• Resolve operational issues and fill staff gaps during emergencies.

B. Staff Supervision & Leadership

• Supervise OT nurses, OT technicians, attendants, and support staff.

• Prepare duty rosters, shift planning, and leave schedules.

• Conduct performance evaluations and provide staff training and development.

• Ensure staff compliance with all OT protocols, aseptic guidelines, and hospital rules.

C. Patient Safety & Quality Assurance

• Monitor adherence to OT safety checklists (WHO Checklist).

• Ensure strict aseptic environment and sterile protocols.

• Oversee pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative processes to maintain safety standards.

• Conduct periodic audits of OT procedures, instrument handling, and documentation.

D. Equipment & Inventory Management

• Ensure proper functioning of OT equipment (lights, tables, anesthesia machine, cautery, suction, monitoring systems).

• Coordinate with Biomedical Engineering for repairs and preventive maintenance.

• Manage inventory of surgical instruments, consumables, and implants.

• Approve requisitions and maintain stock levels to prevent shortages.

E. Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate between surgeons, anesthesia team, nursing, ICU, ER, and CSSD.

• Participate in hospital committees related to OT, infection control, and quality assurance.

• Ensure accurate communication of surgical plans, delays, cancellations, and emergencies.

F. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain OT logs, utilization reports, infection control audit records, and incident reports.

• Prepare monthly OT performance reports for hospital management.

• Ensure accurate reporting of equipment breakdowns, patient safety incidents, and near misses.

G. Infection Prevention & Waste Management

• Ensure compliance with infection control policies (IPC).

• Oversee sterile supply management and coordination with CSSD.

• Monitor biomedical waste disposal according to hospital and national standards.
