Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Act as the primary point of contact for international and local buyers.
∎ Understand buyer requirements, specifications, and expectations.
∎ Build and maintain long-term buyer relationships through regular updates and feedback.
∎ Lead and supervise a team of merchandisers and assistant merchandisers.
∎ Allocate tasks, set performance goals, and conduct training to improve team productivity.
∎ Monitor the team’s progress and ensure timely execution of responsibilities.
∎ Handle the complete lifecycle of orders: sampling, approvals, production follow-up, and shipment.
∎ Monitor critical path timelines to ensure on-time delivery.
∎ Review and approve pre-production samples (PP samples) and size sets.
∎ Analyze and finalize garment costing with accurate consumption and negotiation with suppliers.
∎ Work with the production, sourcing, and finance teams to optimize cost without compromising quality.
∎ Coordinate with design and product development teams to develop new styles and collections.
∎ Ensure all developments meet buyer expectations and market trends.Organize sample development timelines and approvals.
∎ Liaise with production, quality, and planning departments to track order progress.
∎ Solve production-related issues proactively to avoid delays.
∎ Ensure raw materials and trims are sourced on time.
∎ Ensure products meet quality standards as required by buyers.
∎ Coordinate with the quality team for in-line and final inspections.
∎ Coordinate with fabric/trims suppliers and manufacturers to ensure timely procurement.
∎ Build strong relationships with vendors to improve sourcing flexibility and reliability.
∎ Prepare and present weekly/monthly order status reports to top management and buyers.
∎ Maintain accurate records of orders, approvals, communications, and shipment details.
∎ Stay updated on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging fashion.
∎ Propose new products or ideas based on buyer profiles and market feedback.
∎ Work on sustainability and compliance issues as per buyer and factory policies.
∎ Develop strategies to improve merchandising efficiency and reduce lead times.
