Educational Requirements
A 4-year Honours degree and an MA in English from a recognised university.
At least 3 (three) First Divisions/Classes/A Grades from SSC to Master's level.
Candidates holding a PhD/MPhil degree in English from a recognised university in Bangladesh or abroad will be given high preference.
Candidates with research expertise in any area of English Language and Literature will be given priority.
Candidates with a 3rd Class/Division or a GPA/CGPA below 3.00 in any public examination need not apply.
To deliver lectures, lead discussions, and conduct tutorials for students in the Department of English, including developing course syllabi, designing course materials, and assessing and evaluating student performance.
To participate in the development and revision of the curriculum, including creating new courses and updating existing ones to reflect developments in the field.
To engage in research and scholarly activities within the area of English, including conducting research, publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting research at conferences.
To advise students on academic and career-related matters, including academic planning, course selection, and career opportunities.
To participate in departmental and university service activities, including committee work, meetings, and initiatives that contribute to the effective functioning of the Department and the University.
To stay current with developments in the field of English and participate in professional development activities, such as conferences, workshops, and advanced academic programmes.
To build partnerships with local colleges, community organisations, and other institutions to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Department of English.
To assist with departmental administration, including student recruitment and retention, budget-related activities, and accreditation processes.
To perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and strategic objectives of the Department of English and the University.
