Experience:

• Bachelor/Honors
• Masters

• Advanced university degree (PhD or Master’s degree) in environmental science/health, environmental engineering, climate science, geographic studies, sustainability or a related field having a strong relationship with environmental management
• Master’s Degree with 10-12 years of relevant professional experience or PhD with 7-8 years’ experience in the environment/climate change/pollution management sector;

• 10 to 12 years
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Govt./ Semi Govt./ Autonomous body

• Experience of working directly for the government (preferably at MoEFC/DoE) is a must, preferably retired government officials;
• Prior experience of working in lead pollution and lead exposure management; 
• Proven ability to work with different tiers of government, institutions/ministries, and local government; Demonstrated understanding of local environmental/climate change/sustainability issues; 
• Proven project management skills with government and decision-makers at its interface

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

Pure Earth Bangladesh is seeking a sector specialist in environmental issues to join as an individual consultant seconded to the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (MoEFCC)/Department of Environment (DoE) in Bangladesh.

• The consultant will be stationed at MoEFC/DoE and will be responsible for delivering the highest standards of technical work and aiding the environmental policy and governance ecosystem in Bangladesh, specifically focusing on lead pollution and the Lead-Acid battery industry.

• The consultant is also expected to portray a realistic picture of the ground-level scenario through meaningful engagement with major industry stakeholders and development partners relevant to the national battery manufacturers and recyclers, and provide appropriate recommendations to overcome the challenges.

• The consultant will be responsible for increasing communication between the MoEFC, DoE and other Ministries and Departments to facilitate coordination of ULAB management and ensure that capacities of MoEFC/DOE professionals are strengthened through structured training and knowledge management.
