Job Responsibilities:
∎ Consult with relevant government agencies, trade and industry associations, donor or government funded development projects supporting horticulture value chains, specific businesses exporting fresh fruit and vegetables, mango exporters, and other traders
∎ Conduct desk research, reviewing the content on web portals of national, regional, and international trade/development related agencies to capture complete information about the requirements for export of mangoes and other fresh fruit and vegetables to EU markets.
∎ Inquire about, and capture/summarize/highlight the process and procedures used by other relevant and comparable countries competing with Bangladesh in the international trade of fresh fruit and vegetables.
∎ Compile the market requirements and prepare a compatibility check for exportable mangoes and other fresh fruit and vegetables to EU markets.
∎ Document the market regulations of EU countries and compile the mandatory requirements for making the contract farming system compatible to export destinations. This will help the traders understand the pre-requisites for export and save them from potential rejection of consignments.
∎ Design the total process in a manner so that it can integrate with the current automation process of certification and streamline the EU-TRACES in future as a unified statistical tool to allow the extraction of relevant traceability data.
∎ Review and consult with DAE-PQW about the current processes, procedures, or system for complying with EU’s traceability requirements system. Inquire and document if there are alternate or duplicative processes/procedures/systems used by other agro-trade related agencies.
∎ Review and consult with businesses, traders, and industry and trade associations to understand the processes/procedures/systems used at the firm-level to comply with export requirements for fresh fruit and vegetables. Document any gaps in knowledge about compliance or procedures. A
∎ Consult with C&F Agents Association and the Freight Forwarders Association to understand the involvement of these stakeholders and to understand the processes/procedures/system used in facilitating export of fresh fruit and vegetables at ports and Customs. Document any gaps in knowledge about compliance and procedures related.
∎ Review, analyze, and organize relevant processes and procedures, regulatory requirements, and government directives in respect to contract farming and traceability systems.
∎ Compile up-to-date information about market access and the import requirements of countries that are important export markets for Bangladeshi companies and products.
∎ Recommend appropriate process for contract farming and traceability system and stakeholders’ participation in the process.
∎ Working with BTF to implement workshops or meetings to validate the road map for automation and traceability system development.
∎ Recommend other requirements or interventions to bridge the private sector and traders’ demand for automation.
